September 11, 2003 - VOL. 12, NO. 52

FRONT OF BOOK Letters: After last week's bulky, snooze-inducing section, a full page of letters from readers.... Last Days: The best thing in the paper, week in and week out.... NEWS Zzzzzzzzzz. Isn't this the same news section that ran last week?.... SHORT FEATURE Read it. It was dumb.... FEATURE As usual, The Stranger runs an article on religion that is negative and snide. And that said article is penned by Sean Nelson--who is most definitely going to hell--makes the piece an even bigger travesty.... THEATER A large preview of the Seattle Fringe Theatre Festival. On a related note: How shocking to find an article in The Stranger's theater section that is actually of use to the readers!.... BOOKS A long, interesting piece on liberal books that also happens to be the lone acknowledgement of the 9/11 anniversary to be found within The Stranger's rigorously unpatriotic pages.... ART Didn't read.... FOOD Sara Dickerman has some unkind words for a local restaurant in just her fourth week of reviewing. Could this signal that The Stranger's food criticism will actually be critical?.... MUSIC A decent section.... FILM A long-winded slab of tripe from Bradley Steinbacher leads off the section, which means the rest of the reviews were given no time before my eyes.... ETC. In Arts News: Does anybody read this?.... Nightstand: None this week (thankfully).... Some Candy Talking: Didn't read.... Live Wire: Didn't read.... The Truth: Impenetrable.... Underage: Painfully cheery.... Data Breaker: Might as well be written in Sanskrit.... The Score: Didn't read.... Savage Love: Cranky like an old man.... I Love TV: Sex-obsessed, like an immature man.... Control Tower: Didn't read.... Celebrity I Saw U: Too gay....
