September 25, 2003 - VOL. 13, NO. 02

FRONT OF BOOK Letters: A full page of smart correspondence marred, as usual, by a snippy retort from Dan Savage.... Last Days: Genius.... NEWS A hefty section, though said heft does not mean it is at all interesting (which it isn't).... FEATURE A special "Back to School" section filled with corrupting tips and inane potty humor. Evidently it's not bad enough that The Stranger soils the minds of Seattle's adult citizens; it has to destroy young lives as well.... THEATER A useful section, surprisingly.... BOOKS A wonderful piece by Vendela Vida. Finally! A books section worth reading!... ART Didn't read.... FOOD Skimmed/unable to muster interest.... MUSIC Decent, though a little cluttered. Must The Stranger cover so much music every week?... FILM Didn't read.... ETC. In Arts News: A slight, fairly useless column.... Nightstand: Self-absorbed drivel, as usual.... Live Wire: Useful and informative, as usual.... Drunk by Noon: Yet another column for the paper, this time penned by my old enemy Nate "Hey! I Own a Thesaurus and I Ain't Afraid to Overuse It!" Lippens.... The Truth: Didn't read.... Underage: They should change the name of this column to "Cheerleader!" since that is about all Megan Seling does week in and week out.... Data Breaker: Impenetrable.... The Score: Also impenetrable.... Some Candy Talking: Skimmed.... Savage Love: Not as gay as Celebrity I Saw U, but pretty darn gay nonetheless.... I Love TV: Funny, but dangerous.... Control Tower: Didn't read.... Celebrity I Saw U: Too gay....
