November 27, 2003 - VOL. 13, NO. 11

FRONT OF BOOK Letters: A full page containing, miraculously, just two brief responses from Stranger writers. No responses would be ideal, of course, but The Stranger having only two minor retorts can be read as progress.... Last Days: Devoted almost entirely to Michael Jackson. Very interesting.... NEWS Speaking of interesting reads: This week's news section does not classify as one.... SHORT FEATURE Skimmed.... FEATURE A technical, extremely "wonkish" article on the Alaskan Way Viaduct by Erica C. Barnett. For the two or three people in Seattle who will find the topic interesting, I'm sure the article will make for a good read.... THEATER Didn't read.... BOOKS A decent review by Dominic Scarpelli (an intern!), followed by yet another intelligent piece of writing by Emily Hall.... ART A handful of brief reviews.... FOOD Skimmed.... MUSIC Also skimmed.... FILM Incomprehensible reviews by Charles Mudede and Bradley Steinbacher, (dis)respectively, along with a well-written, entertaining review by Jennifer Maerz.... ETC. In Arts News: Didn't read.... Nightstand: Not really worth reading, as usual.... Live Wire: Well worth the read, as usual.... Drunk by Noon: In an unnecessarily large word: platitudinous.... The Truth: Didn't read.... Underage: Zzzzzzzz.... Data Breaker: Didn't read.... The Score: Didn't read.... Some Candy Talking: Didn't read.... Savage Love: Surprisingly disturbing this week. What will it take for Seattle to classify The Stranger as pornography? Evidently letters on inserting feminine hygiene products into improper orifices will not be it.... I Love TV: Speaking of inserting feminine hygiene products into improper orifices.... Control Tower: Huh?.... Celebrity I Saw U: Too gay....
