* Okay, here's the real reason we're endorsing Nickels: According to a top-secret Joint Operating Agreement (JOA) between The Stranger and The Seattle Times, we are required to endorse a Democrat whenever the Times endorses a Republican. For example, last year the Times endorsed Republican George W. Bush for president, and we endorsed Democrat Al Gore. Likewise in this year's top race. The Times has endorsed another Republican, Mark Sidran, and so we need to endorse Democrat Greg Nickels.
