Most likely, you know Tom Perrotta from the very good (Election) and kinda forgettable (Little Children) movies that have been adapted from his novels. If you haven’t read him, you should: Perrotta’s humor is so dark, and so smart, that even the best films (did I mention Election?) can’t capture the complexity in his books. His new novel, The Leftover, is crazy ambitious: It’s about the people left behind after Christians are sucked up in the rapture. As you might expect, without rabid Christians around, the world improves in some measurable ways. Perrotta reads from The Leftover tonight at Elliott Bay.
