SQUIRMIN' LIKE A GERMAN: On Sat 8/14 my hubby Kap and I had a dinner guest from sunny Germany -- and naturally, we grilled our guest (we'll call him "Franz")on the latest TV trends in the Fatherland. My fave is the gripping police drama Kommissar Rex -- which stars the titular German shepherd, along with hottie cop Oliver Hirschbiegel. It's one of the top shows in Deutschland right now! Then tune in for Heiße Girls mit Straps und Knarre (translation: Hot Girls with Stockings and Guns!). No laughing -- or Kommissar Rex will bite your ass off! "Franz" assures me Rex is very, very good. (Details at www.sat1.de.)

ROCKBIRDS BY THE FLOCK: Cyndi Lauper went to the Crocodile (which she LOVED!!) after her KeyArena show, bringing along a documentary filmmaker, her assistant Tiffany, and local photog Erika Langley. Cyndi enjoyed Alien Crime Syndicate, but not Huge Space Bird, and consequently left before Harvey Danger (who, FYI, didn't play mega-hit "Flagpole Sitta," instead covering an Eno tune). ··· Meanwhile, weird-ass Icelandic genius/ songstress Björk was seen toy-shopping with her son, then heading off to see Star Wars. Mysteriously, she said she was in town "on a shoot." Hmm....

DENEUVE HAS THE SAME HAIRDRESSER AS JOHN CURLEY! On Fri 8/13 sexy fiftysomething French film star Catherine Deneuve was spotted leaving the Marco Two Union Square salon, freshly coifed and absolutely ravishing! She reportedly gave her beauty artists a delicious lipstick-smooched autograph as a token of her gratitude -- and mysteriously, she claimed to be filming a movie here in Seattle! Hmm....

HMMM...: A Mon 8/16 article from Stockholm, Sweden's Expressen magazine may shed some light on this mysterious celebrity convergence: Seems ass-kicking Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier (The Kingdom, Breaking the Waves) is working on a new film -- a musical (?!) called Dancer in the Dark. And beyond composing the music, Björk has a starring role! Co-starring is -- uh-huh -- the divine Mme. Deneuve!! (TTS star-spotters should also be on the lookout for actor Peter "Fargo" Stormare.) Expressen explains, "Dancer in the Dark takes place in 1964, and tells about Selma (Björk) and her son, who have emigrated from eastern Europe to an industrial town in northwestern USA." O-HO!! (See the translated article at http://bjork.mmedia.is/news/138.htm.) Expressen claims Lars is shooting in Copenhagen and Trollhättan -- the Stockholm suburb where Saabs are built -- saying, "This is actually a Hollywood production... but since Lars von Trier rather avoids traveling, and definitely won't fly, USA was impossible." SO WHAT THE HECK ARE HIS STARS DOING IN SEATTLE? I dunno, but insiders say the shoot is on, and lovable Lars is directing over the Internet!

MEANWHILE, IN THE REMOTE WILDERNESS of Northern Cali, local celeb "Razor Blade" -- who, I'm told, is famous within a 50-mile radius -- entertained a group of camping Seattleites with his charming backwoods ways. Mr. Blade, a sometime logger and grower of the Mary-Jane, chawed on a huge wad of tobacco, got stinkin' drunk, took off his shirt... and (surprise!) scratched hisself!

MISSOULA PLAYBOY: Spotted at Garden City News in Missoula, Montana, BUYING A PLAYBOY MAGAZINE... none other than squeaky-clean Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament! He also picked up a zine on the making of Blair Witch (to distract the leering clerk, no doubt), and smuggled the goods back to his rustic country chateau!

A shout-out to my artist friend Ledpants -- Lars von Trier fan #1! shirley@thestranger.com.
