You'll have to bear with me because I'm writing this the Monday after the Block Party. I have never been so exhausted. It was totally worth the lack of sleep, though, because I had the distinct pleasure of playing MC for the Vera Project's stage the entire weekend, and I saw some amazing bands--Display, Kane Hodder, Doomsday 1999, Schoolyard Heroes, Holy Ghost Revival, United State of Electronica. Everything was great, and totally worth giving up a weekend of sleep for.

Huge and sincere thanks go out to everyone at the Vera Project for putting together such an amazing lineup--and special thanks to all the volunteers who helped out with the backstage mayhem. And thanks to all of you who came out to support all the bands. It was great seeing so many familiar faces and meeting a lot of new friends too. I hope you all had as much fun as I did.

Speaking of Kane Hodder (who were a-maz-ing at the Block Party last weekend), on Friday, June 18, they're playing a show at the Brick House with the Portland band Adaine. I hear Adaine is a whole lot like Thursday, except a little bit harder... and maybe even a little better? You'll have to go to find out for yourself. The show starts at 8 pm, and it's only five bucks.

In other news, did you know that Seattle is the home of the second-largest moped gang in the nation? It's crazy, but true. Since June of last year, the members of the Mosquito Fleet have been swarming Seattle streets with their 50 cc motors and two-stroke oil, and this weekend the Fleet is hosting the very first annual moped rally. All weekend long, the Mosquitoes will be celebrating their cute but totally badass mini-motorcycles (with pedals) with daylong rides, races, and BBQs. And the best part is, you're invited to the party. On Saturday, July 19, the gang is hosting a rock show and moped showcase, and everyone is welcome, with or without moped. This show is also at the Brick House, and it features Rosie Thomas, Hidari Mae, Dear Darling, and DJ Boss Royal (Damien Jurado). It's seven bucks and starts at 6:30 pm. If you want more information about the Mosquito Fleet, check out www.mopedarmy.com.

And if that's not enough rock action for ya, after a few days of recuperation you should be able to muster up enough strength to catch Anatomy of a Ghost tearing up Studio Seven on Wednesday, July 23. Local boys Time to Fly open; the show starts at 7 pm, and is only eight bucks.

I have to go take a nap now. MEGAN SELING
