While mainstream alternative media trip and stumble over our pop-sotted asses tryna figure out what to call it, those who love and create improvisational new music are enjoying an extraordinarily fertile period in Northwest clubs. DIY impresarios Jessica Lurie and Eric Boyer present the second installment of the Tonehole Festival from Mon March 1 to Sat March 6 at the OK Hotel. Each night will feature performances in both spaces of the club and include the internationally renowned violinist Eyvind Kang (playing in three configurations on two nights, Mon March 1 and Fri March 5), Combustion Method's trio of koto, bass and trumpet (Mon March 1), choreographer Crispin Spaeth and bassist Matthew Sperry (Mon March 1), Jeff Greinke's sublime LAND (Tues March 2), the precocious Climax Golden Twins and Hovercraft (Wed March 3), accordionist Elaine di Falco's FABRIC (Thurs March 4), a solo performance from Sun City Girls guitarist Rick Bishop, chamber Ensemble Sospeso (Fri March 5), and a Wayne Horvitz Ensemble created specifically for the festival (Sat March 6).
