@1: Write Pelosi and ask her I guess. Because apparently the memo is a complete fake, but at the same time contains information that needs to remain secret and could damage the reputation of the FBI/DOJ.

No one here knows what it even says, and opinions are split 100% on partisan lines, so your guess is as good as anyone's right now. But when in doubt, I feel the public should be made aware about what their government is doing, and the people can decide for themselves as to the content of this memo.

Alleyway Bruce Lee, now Vlad the Romancer? I'm OK with Slog AM having a cast of odd zany characters in it. They can be minor online celebrities, like Hubby Kip in Ann Romano's One Day at a Time column.

@1: I hope you're right. Those with the capability to grasp the notion of nuance aren't taken in by Trump anyway. If Trump does use it as an excuse to fire Mueller, I'd like to hope it will be the catalyst for sustained protests calling for his impeachment, similar to those in Venezuela over Maduro's seizing of power. That's probably hoping for a lot though.

@ 2,

The problem is that the supposed "intelligence" in the memo has been crafted by Devil Numbnutz and his Republinazi staff specifically to create a false narrative of DOJ and FBI corruption as a pretense for purging them of anyone deemed disloyal to Hair Fuhrer. And since the source material is classified, there's no way to independently verify any of it.

Other things that aren't for poor people- Ferraris, Cartier, Sachs, Brooks Brothers, La Pavoni, & Allen Edmonds.
7
They are right about one thing: The FBI's reputation is ruined after they allowed the GOP, the Tdumbpnazis, and Ru$$ia to carry out a decapitation strike that destroyed US leadership and sent our government into a kleptocratic tailspin.

Our so-called "intelligence" agencies are worthless and incompetent. The only question now is whether those aforementioned traitors destroy themselves or the country first.
8
@5: Ok, but you don't actually know if any of that is true. That is what I am saying.
9
it wouldn't be the morning news if Ted wasn't defending a nazi.

Annnnd, I'm back.

@2:

But how CAN the public objectively decide anything about the content of this "memo", given all the blatant chicanery in which Nunes has been engaging on this? There are sooooo many to-date unaddressed questions: is he providing ALL the relevant information? Is it being presented in a fair and unbiased context? Did he alter the contents AFTER the initial vote to release by the House Intelligence Committee? Did he consult with the White House on the initial draft? Would publishing the document in fact result in breaches of confidentiality and national security? I consider myself a reasonably educated citizen, but I don't feel like I would have all the information I need to be able to answer those questions or evaluate the contents in light of them. and I certainly don't anticipate a bunch of angry, confirmationally-biased, low-information, mouth-breathing RWNJ's are going to somehow be in a BETTER position to evaluate it.

It seems fairly evident (and becoming more so with each passing hour) that Nunes - most likely with direction from the WH - is simply using this in an attempt to throw yet another GOP-carved sabot into the political machinery, to foment an atmosphere of doubt and mistrust of federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies tasked with investigating potential collusion between the Drumph campaign and the Russians, in the hopes that, if the Republicans can throw enough shit against the fan blades it'll obfuscate their own complicity and somehow save themselves from the inevitable scrutiny that may follow.

As for using this as another hypothetical "nail in the coffin" to justify a dismissal of Mueller, well, at this point I simply don't see how such an action by the Executive Branch would result in anything short of a backlash of constitutionally epic proportions: Nixon's "Saturday Night Massacre" times about a thousand.

@9: Who am I defending?
14
@11: You left?

Anyway, you can make those arguments about anything the government releases that is somewhat classified, or deals with intelligence agencies.

If you have decided that no matter what happens you are not going to believe anything that a republican says, then you really have no place in the debate, because you have decided that truth must be partisan, and anything that does not confirm it must be fake. You are already arguing in bad faith, because your conclusion is already set.

Perhaps this memo answers those questions. How would any of us even know? I have no idea, but I would at least like the chance to know what my government is doing.

Open question to folks on all sides of the political spectrum: What will it take for the average citizen of this country, busy with their day to day schedules: child care, 9-5 job, debt repayments, vet and doctors appointments, etc., to get so fed up with our government that they stop what they're doing and protest en masse in the streets like some latin american country or eastern european country (think Ukraine, Romania as communism was collapsing)? The closest thing we've had in recent memory was the march on washington to protest the Vietnam war, right? And that was primarily young people/hippies.

I find myself so disgusted with our politicians, primarily GOP, but demorcrats as well, and the corruption and lying that is taking place in front of our faces. But I find myself equally disgusted with passive/complacent americans too busy to put down instagram to pay attention to the destruction of our republic. I'm white hot with rage and feel helpless to do anything.

What will it take for a few million people to march on washington, shut down this economy and get the politician class to stop fucking with our lives.

I like Vladdy.

@ 15,

Millions of us took to the streets in the Women's March just a few weeks ago to protest this evil, illegitimate regime. These were the second largest mass demonstrations in our nation's history, right after the 2017 Women's March.

They are having the notable effect of partially crippling the Ku Klux Kongress, leading to a number of high-profile Republinazi "retirements" at a time when their greedy, hate-crazed party is at the apex of their malicious, sadistic, anti-American power.

Hang in there. Our progress is agonizingly slow, however a massive change is on the horizon--and they know it, which is why they're looting the nation on their way to having their corrupt, racist asses kicked outta the door.

Sally Bagshaw is a disgrace.

@ 15,

I should add that you can convert that anger into action by donating money, your time, and/or professional services to organizations and candidates that support causes that you care about. Talk to your neighbors and relatives. Encourage people to vote! Truly, anything helps to spark change.

"Plethora" = "too many"
"Plethora" ≠ "lots"

@14:

I haven't decided anything, thank you very much, that was entirely the point of my comment: how CAN I - or anyone - decide ANYTHING about this, given what we already know about how the memo was crafted, and who is behind it? And without providing context, documentation, or other evidence to support whatever assertions the memo contains, it's worth less than the paper it's printed on; and publishing it with the purpose of "letting the people decide" is a pretty piss-poor way to conduct an "independent" investigation that by all rights shouldn't be subject to a popularity contest in the first place.

What we DO know is that Nunes has an established track record of (not so) secretly coordinating with the WH on other so-called "explosive revelations", and so it's no great leap to presume he's done so in this instance as well. If anyone has introduced a partisan bias into these proceedings, it's Nunes himself, by all accounts acting at the behest of the WH, a clear and blatant violation of the independent oversight with which the House Intelligence Committee is empowered and is expected to conduct its proceedings.
23
@22: Why are you saying that you have decided nothing? Look at your comment: you have already decided Nunes is lying, and the memo must be fake, exactly like I said earlier.

The fact that this memo was put together by a republican is all you need to completely dismiss it, and that is fine for you, but you don't speak for everyone.
24
@23:

It's not the fact this "memo was put together by a republican (sic)", it's the fact this memo was put together by a particular Republican who has already been caught lying in previous situations very much like the one currently unfolding. If there are any conclusions to be drawn at this point, one has only to look at Nunes past behavior as a predictor of current behavior. Expecting a different outcome this time without taking that into consideration is simply an act of aggressively shoving ones head firmly up ones own rectum, which you are of course free to do, if you so choose.

Apparently the consultant inner circle knew in 2012, and had contingency plans.

Hiii Sandeep Kaushik, talk to us.

with Murray in 2012 when the then-senator was considering a run for Seattle mayor. Campaign organizers and consultants considered how the mayoral candidate could respond to potential allegations. It was known then that he could face allegations of child abuse — particularity from his former foster son, Jeff Simpson. Murray reportedly said he kept records that painted Simpson as “a manipulative criminal.” Murray noted that Oregon officials opted not to charge him with any crimes after authorities banned him from having a foster son ever again — this followed allegations that Murray molested Simpson while under his care. They also discussed how media previously refused to run stories about such allegations.

I'm sure this is of interest to certain parties here: Poles have sad feelings that some Poles were Nazis or complicit.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-israe…

According to figures from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the Germans also killed at least 1.9 million non-Jewish Polish civilians.

Many thousands of Poles risked their lives to protect their Jewish neighbors; Israel’s Yad Vashem Holocaust center recognizes 6,706 Poles as “righteous among nations” for bravery in resisting the Holocaust, more than any other nationality.

But Poland has also gone through a painful public debate in recent years after the publication of research showing some Poles participated in the Nazi atrocities. Many Poles have refused to accept such findings, which have challenged a national narrative that the country was solely a victim.

Sorry, you kids already missed the party.
If you are/were sick of the GOP and Democrats and Politics As Usual and WashingtonDC and The Establishment and etc etc the smart play was to vote for Trump.
The Revolution came and went.
The pink pussy hat whining curling up in the corner in the fetal position screaming into the sky stuff is, admittedly, super entertaining but too little too late.

Please wait...
