"“When the tailgaters and rich (expletive) show up for the big game, they're going to find exactly what the city worked so hard to prevent: us!” the flyer states."
I hate to break it to the organizers, but it's already common knowledge that Seattle has a large homeless population residing in dilapidated RVs. I'm not sure what this protest will accomplish.
So once again activists in Seattle are going to leverage a disadvantaged community to help with their fight against capitalism or whatever the cause du jour they are going to use to justify their actions. Once their little protest is over will they do anything to actually help the people they are going to use as pawns? I think we all know the answer to that question.
I sympathize with the RV dwellers but they should be (and most probably are) aware that the city's response to a game-day vehicular sit-in is likely to be absolutely ruthless. They'll tow first and endure the legal consequences of disregarding such niceties as the 72-hour rule later, whatever the cost. The All-Star game is just too big a deal.
@3
I know right.
If it blew up in or over Seattle it would make a mess of such a clean city.
Imagine all that waste from the restroom tanks falling on to the pristine sidewalks of Seattle.
Truly an unimaginable horror
@13 No. And you'll be happy to know that the feds can't suggest that Twitter delete Hunter's dick pics. Because that's one of the big bones of contention.
So can someone explain how one MAGAt judge gets to tell the entire federal government they don't get to counter disinformation with actual facts, because it is biased against the conservative, Republican, MAGAt bullshit of lying to people endlessly? I mean even the AG of motherfucking ARIZONA told the SCROTUS to go fuck itself!
It is really is unfortunate that every Trump cult member simply did not inject bleach into their veins when he told them to, because that would have solved a lot of problems.
The Republicans have decided that all rules and laws and the entire Constitution and all of its amendments are simply up to THEIR interpretation and nothing applies to them, but they sure as shit are going to pretend everyone else has to do what they say because they are on a mission to destroy everyone and everything they can in the name of their power, white supremacy, misogyny, and pure bat shit insanity.
Seriously, it's been nearly 8 years of this shit (more like 4 centuries, but I digress). Enough already. Put these people out to pasture. They cannot be reasoned with or negotiated with and everyone, EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO ISN'T A FUCKING REPUBLICAN OR CONSERVATIVE PIECE OF SHIT IN THIS COUNTRY, NEEDS TO WAKE THE FUCK UP AND TAKE ACTION, REAL ACTION, AND STOP THESE MOTHERFUCKERS. They must be stopped by any and all means necessary, no exceptions.
They want a war and we should give it to them and pound them out of existence.

One of the hardest things to watch over the last decade-plus has been the left-wing flip on government censorship from "probably a bad idea" to "more censorship, please! We need a hotline from the White House to the social media companies for when the Executive would like a story killed."
You do understand that Democrats might not be in power forever, right? And that even when they are in power, the temptation to abuse broad censorship powers might prove too great to resist?
@28 Erm, I think you might be missing the point. For a century or so, mass media felt it had an obligation to the truth. And so they'd suppress obvious false information, particularly when that false information was actively harming people. Now that we've democratized mass media, any dipshit can say anything they want. The "federal pressure" that the judge is forbidding amounts to:
1. The feds alerting InstaTwitFace that some people on their platforms appear to be fomenting revolution, and did they want to take action per their terms of service?
2. The feds alerting InstaTwitFace that some people on their platforms were spreading misinformation about the pandemic (Weird! injecting bleach only works to prevent COVID by killing you before you get COVID!), and did the platforms want to take any action on that per their terms of service?
This was literally the feds letting social media companies know that some weird shit was going down that may have made it around the usual content filters. The private social media companies did all of the removing content.
@22 What's the government going to do? Send Bourne over to take down the servers? Disable the systems of several of the largest companies in the country? Suuuure. That's going to happen.

The Vampire song is catchy but your take is laughable. Women have been dating men older than them since the dawn of time (for a multitude of reasons). If age gaps were your main take on the song, then you are delusional. It was more about an asshole being an asshole and the singer breaking up/regretting with said asshole.
@35 And yet it is still illegal to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater. It is still illegal to threaten violence. It is still illegal to conspire to overthrow the government. It is still illegal to incite criminal activity. There are limits to the First Amendment. Always have been, always will be. And that's even before we get to the fact that the First Amendment doesn't apply at all in cases of private censorship like TOS violations on social media posts.

Hunter Biden's laptop and all the information that the Biden family have been taking millions of dollars from the Chinese Communist Party and other governments and corporations in exchange for policy decisions and classified documents is a story that needed to be censored so fewer people would die of Covid?
The government's "information" about covid - that the vaccine prevented transmission, that kids needed to be kept locked up at home, that we should "integrate" Covid + elderly people back into nursing homes lest we be "discriminatng" - was true while government critics were spreading disinfo?
I see you people have your own little Tokyo Roses and Leni Refeinstahls. Heil! Stranger. Your Nazi forefathers would be proiud.
@45: The issue here is the Terms of Service or Terms of Use, part of the contract between user and service provider. One function of government is to enforce contracts, and these contracts include Terms of Service or Use. The government was reminding the service providers to honor their contracts by enforcing these Terms.
By ignoring my Terms, a service provider could allow me to spread maliciously false rumors about you. It could then prevent your responses, via strict enforcement of those very same Terms upon you. This would, of course, be completely unfair to you. The government therefore has an interest in protecting you from this un-level playing field, by reminding the service provider to enforce all Terms equally across all users.
Government agencies “urging, encouraging, pressuring” social media companies to delete or suppress content protected under the First Amendment to the Constitution? The Stranger and the other Blue Totalitarians of Seattle think censoring those with whom they disagree is right on, man.
