A Kansas state judge has ruled the state may no longer change the gender designation for transgender people on the state's drivers' licenses, putting Kansas back on the roster of slave states.

@1: anyone who associates with that particular former president deserves opprobrium.

treasonous narcissists like that former president should be shunned by all for the remainder of his life, and anyone greeting him warmly anywhere, anytime should be publicly shamed.

"restauranteurs" should know to protect their brand.

6

you can always trust robots to be your friends, just ignore the fact that they are disabling the limits on their abilities to remove humans ...

7

@1 Restauranteur [sic] has a conversation with a domestic terrorist at a sporting event and it upsets some people.

8

braindrop!

11

You had to figure Rapinoe's retirement was coming after Sue's retirement last year.

Re: People bugging the gorillas

People are the same all over. (Points if you get the reference!)

13

When did Chuck Schumer leave NY for Cali? I missed that one.

14

The fact that the robots knew what humans wanted to hear is truly frightening.

There’s always room in this world for another queer hero. Best wishes always, Megan.

There is a long history in films and literature of the pursued female – and that there is something noble and sweet in the pursuer’s determination. Oh, if only I could dispel that myth forever. If there indeed was a time, back beyond recorded history, wherein the caveman clubbed his choice of mate and dragged her back to his cave by the hair, it ended then and there. Men. Please. Women will never be won over by birddogging them. Hard to believe that anyone of any age still believes that stalking works. What – did you read that it worked once in a comic book? No, women will let you know, almost immediately in most cases, when and if they want you hanging around. Believe what they say, respect their decision, and move on with your life. Also, Cody Arledge? Way too grown for that shit.

I want to ask former Dr. Nassar how it feels to have something unwanted jammed into him.

“Those frosted-tipped hair spikes aren't so cute anymore.” Were they ever? You know what? Doesn’t surprise me at all when someone with dough comes out as a Trump buddy. Something happens to people, even here in Hollywood, when they hit the 37% bracket. It’s like, “Who gives a fuck about social justice and equity? I just want a new Huracán in my 10-car garage. And why should I have to pay so much of my income to fix crumbling school buildings (my kids go to Andover), updating airports, and repairing bridges on the brink of collapse? That stuff’s for peons.”

OK, so I’m beginning to think there might be an alien parasite that infects people and makes them kill other people randomly. Sounds mostly like an American, sometimes European, event, but it’s happening in China now? How about that goon who went for a joy ride on his scooter through Queens and Brooklyn, shooting at pedestrians, seriously injuring 4 and killing an elderly man out for his daily constitutional. For fuck’s sake. Yes, we are already preparing the Easy Rider suite at Uncle Bauhaus’s Magical Electric Spa. There’ll be lots of skid marks.

Have another cup of coffee, Nathalie. You mean 10 PM and 2 AM for the aurora, yes? And did someone appoint Chuck Schumer as senator for California, too? I missed that in the news. We all make mistakes.

16

I read the story about Nassar and couldn’t help but remember another article I read here about progressives who think convicted felons should be able to vote.

17

Take an AI bot, point it at the Seattle Times, turn the knobs and dials to your political preferences, and voilĂ  you have a half dozen Stranger articles. Don't worry about losing jobs, someone will have to turn the knobs.

18

@16. People who have served their time and are out of prison should most definitely be able to vote. Nassar's serving 175 years in prison, so he's not a candidate for voting again. Honestly, I'm surprised he's still alive.

There is no case against formerly incarcerated individuals having the right to vote when Trump can run for president FROM PRISON if he's convicted and put in prison (and he can because it's been done before).

The laws of this country favor one kind of criminal over all others (see Trump, see 6 of the 9 Supreme Court Justices, see every Republican politician that committed treason on January 6 and hasn't been accountable - ALL OF THEM, see every banker who destroyed the economy in 2008 and not only didn't get punished, BUT GOT BAILED OUT WITH TAXPAYER FUNDS, see all of the people who committed COVID fraud to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars - most of them politicians in congress; see the endless list of white people and white collar criminals who are walking around free and will never be held accountable for anything, etc.) Black people are literally serving close to life sentences for petty theft and having marijuana while the people who attempted to overthrow the federal government on January 6, 2021 are serving mere months (with the, what, less than 5 who got years long sentences and that's because they assaulted police officers - not even because of the people who were killed that day or the fact that every single one of them actively planned and engaged in domestic acts of terrorism and treason).

Please spare us the commentary on progressives when the conservatives are literally destroying the entire country (purposely and not just with intent, but glee).

19

@9: so "both sides", then? please don't vote at all.

21

"Please spare us the commentary on progressives when the conservatives are literally destroying the entire country (purposely and not just with intent, but glee)."

--@xina

BINGO.

22

@16 Sure, let Nassar vote. Even while he's in prison. Universal suffrage is universal suffrage. Just because I think he's a POS doesn't mean he shouldn't get to vote.

23

@20 "That may be so but a no thank you has never brought me any ill mannered reaction when I've been hit on by men."

Very bad analogy.

25

@4, you are apparently unaware of how retirement announcements work. It's nothing unusual, and not just in sports, to announce it beforehand rather than after it has happened. If a CEO said they were retiring at the end of a fiscal year, would you also think it screams, "Look at me!"?

26

@ 20 - I see two possibilities, Skid, to a "maybe." One is asking when you might reasonably expect a decision one way or the other as life is short. The other is you've encountered someone who wishes to be a puppetmaster and is, therefore, no longer deserving of your further interest. BTW, maybe is a soft no because if she or he really wanted to run their fingers through your hair, she or he wouldn't be saying, "Maybe."

I recoil at giving women advice because well...lack of experience? But I will say that if you fear receiving a bad reaction from "no, thank you," then you could respond with, "I have a boyfriend and we're very happy, but thank you." No one is going to shoot you at sunrise for a variation on that little white lie, and you've managed to spare some feelings to boot.

29

@1- person treats Donald Trump as a human being instead of a reprehensible pile of shit and many people get justifiably upset.

33

Guy Fieri ... well, duh. Don't y'all know who the Trumpers are? They are uneducated, ambitious, distrustful, savvy, stone-cold hard working mean sumbitches with full pockets who own the diners, drive-ins and dives (and pawn shops, gun shops, Subway franchises, car lots, plumbing business, etc. etc.) who disdain anyone who works for a paycheck, trades in "book learnin'," has cushy bennies like sick leave and paid vacay and uses the word "actually." Guy Fieri is 100 x 100 that. It's hard to believe they don't hate America, but they don't. They just hate you. And they're going to keep hating on you until the next recession rolls 'em like a drunk Wapato cow boy up on Aurora. Bourdain couldn't stand him, but he never really knew why. Chef vs. cook, I guess.

35

@28 -- But what if you really do want to look at her. This is a common courtesy to fans. Many great players wait until the end because they can't make up their mind. But those that have made up their mind announce it before hand. Sue Bird did, which is why her last regular season game was sold out. I expect Reign games to have higher attendance the rest of the year, for good reason. If the Reign finally win it all, then all the better.

37

@5 & @19 Max Solomon, @18 xina (agreed with @21 kristofarian), and @29 dvs99 + 5 for the WIN!!
You all covered it beautifully. Kudos!
