"Israel began killing women and children in Lebanon over the weekend while claiming they sought only to destroy Hezbollah weapons caches that Israel said the group had hidden in residential neighborhoods."
So Ashley's (The Stranger's?) position is that if weapons are stored amongst women and children, the weapons are immune from attack and destruction under international law. It's her (The Stranger's) position that a combatant is free from attack by their opponent under international law, provided they fight from amongst women and children.
I've got new for Ashley, The Stranger, CDKathes, Greenwoodbob, Kristo, Averagebob, et. al. That this is not what international law says. It expressly states that hospitals, schools, and other areas where woman and children are present, lose protections under international law when they are used by the enemy to benefit their combat capability.
"Weapons caches ... hidden in residential neighborhoods," are lawful targets wherever they are located. Combatants are lawful targets wherever they are located. They may not be shielded with otherwise protected facilities, or people, without those facilities and people losing protection that would otherwise be afforded to them under international law.
Anyone wonder why Hamas, Hezbollah, U.N. Human Rights staff keep trying their case in the press instead of a court? Maybe its because they are venue shopping for a venue where they have some small chance of winning, rather than a venue where they have no chance of winning.
Israelâs Dahiya doctrine intentionally violates International Humanitarian Law
The immense numbers of civilian deaths and injuries have prompted human rights experts to condemn Israel for its defense strategy that disproportionately harms civilians. The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to prevent acts of genocide in Gaza and the International Criminal Court is seeking arrest warrants for senior Israeli and Hamas officials. Deliberate or indiscriminate attacks on civilians and impediments to the passage of humanitarian aid are direct violations of the ârules of warâ, or International Humanitarian Law.
Why is it that the people who say they want a government small enough to drown in a bathtub call for blood whenever someone else talks shit about it. If there is anything to love about this country itâs your right to criticize it however you like.
@6, Deflection when you wrote, "Deliberate or indiscriminate attacks on civilians."
If they are attacks on weapons, as Ashley described it, or fighters, stored or present in civilian areas they aren't "deliberate or indiscriminate attacks on civilians," they are discriminate attacks on lawful military targets with civilian deaths. That is expressly permitted by international law.
As always happens when celebrities say something like that or burn a flag, they simply make the story all about themselves and turn people off from the cause they were ostensibly trying to promote, people never learn.
Just a reminder this is not Macklemore's first brush with antisemitism. There was this gem from 2014: https://time.com/105848/macklemore-apology-anti-semitism/. At the time it seemed a one off but given his actions the last few months seems more core to who he is. The local sports teams would be right to disassociate with his brand. Let's be honest the Mariners have enough problems with Jerry 54% Dipoto and really don't need to deal with this nonsense.
Also noted that Chris Reykdal has a solution for school funding...an income tax
Funny thing about Macklemore and most of the other pro-Hamas folks out there is that theyâve stayed here in the U.S. instead of going to Gaza to help distribute food and medical supplies.

My point is that conservatives hate the US government to the point that they have based their entire political brand on it but they get really mad when anyone to their left criticizes it and their response always amounts to a complete rejection of the very rights they claim to value.
The author of this Slog post was arrested and charged with burglary and several other crimes when she worked at her previous job in Montana for breaking into an ex-boyfriendâs house. She was given a deferred disposition and the case was eventually dismissed. She moved on and is now writing here. Thatâs America.
Hamas is in charge of Gaza. They believe that a person who did what Ashley did should be either executed or lose a limb.
So when someone says âfuck America,â what does Ashley say in response? That this person said âsomething cool.â Never mind that if Ashley did what she did in Gaza rather than Montana sheâd either be dead or missing one of the appendages she used to write this article.
America is far from perfect, but it remains bizarre that so many people pretend itâs worse than a place where theyâd face severe consequences for being who they are or doing what they do. If you would be either dead, imprisoned for a long time, or have a limb cut off in one place, or get a none of these consequences in another, maybe the latter is a better place than the former.
17, If people said he should be exiled to a country where women have no rights then sure those people suck too but most of what I heard was people calling him a pussy for being afraid of independent women
@20, Saying fuck America for facilitating an ethnic cleansing isnât saying the places we are bombing are better, they are just saying they donât want to be party to an ethnic cleansing.
If you hate our freedoms so much, why don't you move to Russia or North Korea or one of those other authoritarian countries your Fearful Cheeto loves so much?
â"Fuck America," not that we genuinely should tell the US government to cut this shit outâ
And thatâs what folks are missing - instead of being âedgyâ, Mac could have used his platform to denounce weapon sales to Israel. He could have used his connections with teams like the Kraken and Mariners to amplify the needs of Palestinians.
Instead, he wants to sit with the cool kids all the while selling $45 tee shirts at U Village (boy is the irony deep with this one). Dude is no longer of the people - heâs just another celebrity chasing fame and fortune.
Comte @26: you seem to be confusing "freedom to not be arrested" with "freedom to never have anyone call you a jackass ever, and entitlement to have everyone give you money."
Macklemore has the former, and literally no one is arguing otherwise. However, he does not have the latter.
Remember when Elon told all his advertisers "go fuck yourself" and then sued, crying about how unfair it was that they went "ok, bye?" Same applies here. Mack can say what he likes, and people can call him a jackass if they like, and buy or not buy his tickets/music if they like. You can personally give him all the money you like - we ain't stopping you.
I read this: "At a pro-Palestine festival in Seattle over the weekend, Macklemore said, 'Fuck America,' according to KOMO." And my first thought was, "Good to see the Trump campaign finally getting a few celebrity endorsers, however B-list they may be."
This reminds me of the roll call of states at the Democratic National Convention last month.
Each state or territory got to choose its theme music. Puerto Rico chose "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi. And I thought, "If there was ever a musical argument for Puerto Rican statehood, that's it."
And then they got to Washington, and the theme music was Macklemore. And I thought, "If ever there was a musical argument for revoking Washington's statehood, that's it."
OK, I'll admit, upon further consideration, that's a very unfair thought.
I don't see how a person could not understand when another person feels the need to say "fuck America". I mean, I'm sure the residents of Mai Lai 6 at least thought it a few times. Descendents of slaves in America and those who were actually enslaved or victims of Jim Crow have thought "fuck America". The fact that if Kamala Harris loses the election, it is solely because she is a woman in a heinously misogynistic country. I bet because of this shortcoming to our "more perfect union" plenty of women have said or thought "fuck America". It's just expression, honest-wholesome expression, "fuck America"... sometimes there's no better way to express what one feels when experiencing life in the land of the free and home of the brave. "Fuck America", It doesn't promote hate, like those racist right-wing influencers that make up stories about legal immigrants. It doesn't promote baseless conspiracy theories that militarize the right-wing base, like fox news and other right-wing media outlets. Macklemore simply disagreed with an obvious problem our country has with its use of its military industrial complex. Phoebe, if you pulled your nose away from the flag that you use as a kleenex to dry your crocodile tears you would see it is a soiled and fetid piece of cloth, for sale and abused by the world over--whomever is the highest bidder. So yeah Fuck America.
Oh calm down, you hysterical clowns. There's no ethnic cleansing or genocide in Gaza, Lebanon, or anywhere else in the Levant. These idiots shot up Israel and then hid behind their own women and children. This is just plain old war, and Israel is doing a remarkably efficient job of killing the idiots who started it. Every single dead Arab woman, child, and civilian in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon can be laid at the doorstep of the terrorists.
I'm pro-Palestine. I'm so strongly pro-Palestine that I want Palestinians to be rid of the parasitic terrorists who are using them as human shields. I want them to live alongside Israel in peace, as so many other tens of millions of Arabs have learned to do.
What, to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelty to which he is the constant victim. . . . I will not enlarge further on your national inconsistencies.
The existence of slavery in this country brands your republicanism a sham, your humanity a base pretense, and your Christianity a lie. It destroys your moral power abroad; it corrupts your politicians at home. It saps the foundation of religion; it makes your name a hissing, and a bye-word to a mocking earth.
It is the antagonistic force in your government, the only thing that seriously disturbs and endangers your Union. It fetters your progress; it is the enemy of improvement, the deadly foe of education; it fosters pride; it breeds insolence; it promotes vice; it shelters crime; it is a curse to the earth that supports it; and yet, you cling to it, as if it were the sheet anchor of all your hopes.
Oh! Be warned! Be warned! A horrible reptile is coiled up in your nationâs bosom; the venomous creature is nursing at the tender breast of your youthful republic; for the love of God, tear away, and fling from you the hideous monster, and let the weight of twenty millions crush and destroy it forever! . . .
31: It doesn't promote hate per se, but "fuck America" promotes your hate, obviously. Feeling sad about those who feel that way doesn't make me feel tearful. But it makes you angry that the sentiment isn't widely shared, I imagine you'd admit.
@36 From what I gather Phoebe, you are typically so wrapped up in making your own point that you generally fail to understand the point that others are making. Your "love it or leave it" attitude only begets the mistakes that our country repeats time and time again. Benjamin Franklin said, "It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority." So I commend those that question our country's direction and applaud them when they choose words to vent their frustration with the pain and harm it doles out at the will of the highest bidder.
SOlIDARITY @34 Kristofarian you are a blessing to human consciousness!
The idea that Israel was just minding its own business when "idiots" started shooting at it is the most often repeated lie about the Palestine conflict.
I'll bet that almost all of those who are mad at Macklemore aren't so because of his slur but because they agree with enabling the murder of babies and their mothers. The rage at his outburst is theater to hide the ugliness of their ideas.
@43, There doesnât have to be a nation called Palestine for the people living on the land to be forcibly displaced from their homes, many exiled to other countries entirely, which is the primary defining feature of ethnic cleansing.
If we are not to call the war in Gaza genocide because it fails to meet the criteria of intent, we should all be able to agree on ethnic cleansing since Israelâs treatment of the native population easily meets the definition without even considering the body count or Israelâs intentions.
@42, @44: History is for persons who can stand nuance. Now we know why you threw such a fit at the deaths and cripplings of terrorists.
Israel committed ethnic cleansing in 2005, when it forcibly removed all Jewish settlers from Gaza. Good luck getting Israel to do it again in the West Bank.
38: Questioning authority pairs equally well with loving our country, as well as hating it - if not more. Everyone vents frustration and then chooses proceed pessimistically or optimistically -- which is personal choice. As you grow older, this will become more apparent to you.
45, I said nothing at all about the âcrippling of terroristsâ.
If you canât defend your position without resorting to reductive, Bush-era âwith us or against usâ ad hominems why are you even bothering to argue at all. Itâs just so boring.
@49: Theyâd have a little more security in their homes if they would stop launching wars that they then immediately lose. Just ask the people in southern Lebanon right now!
@28 'And thatâs what folks are missing - instead of being âedgyâ, Mac could have used his platform to denounce weapon sales to Israel.'
Exactly! Because Macklemore teleported into the venue, said exactly two "edgy" words, and immediately teleported back out, there is no additional context or content to consider.
@52: Yikes, âa little ethnic cleansing is OK?!â Can you hear yourself?
The settlements, specifically, in the West Bank are unlawful. They are not genocide, ethnic cleansing, or apartheid, but they are unlawful.
Israelâs creation is lawful. Israelâs existence is lawful. Israelâs wars to destroy Hamas and Hizbollah are lawful.
Hamas and Hizbollah hiding behind civilians is unlawful. Israel killing the civilians to get at the fighters hiding behind them is lawful.
Hopefully this clears a few things up around here. So many otherwise conscientious lefties lose their freaking minds when itâs anything to do with Israel.
53, It doesnât, sorry. The settlements in the West Bank are illegal, full stop, and I personally donât think any war effort needs to violate international law for me to personally find it excessive and counter productive, or something I do not want to fund with my tax dollars.
Iâm sharing my opinion about an expensive and destructive war and trying my best to speak and argue in good faith. If thatâs an issue for you we donât have to continue this conversation further.
@54: Hamas and Hizbollah started a war of choice against one of our most important allies. Iâm happy to pay for as many JDAMs and 155s as it takes for our friends to put them down. Same goes for the Russians.
@55: No, thereâs that special Israel-related hysteria again. I think you need to sit down with the ICJ advisory opinion of 19 July. It rewards close reading, both for what the Court says and what it doesnât say.
I also support arming an ally but those arms should come with clearly defined conditions that align with our stated values as a nation and concerted efforts to broker a peaceful resolution, not a blank check with no realistic end point in mind.

@46 soooooo. As I grow older I will find optimism? I have plenty of optimism. I feel Macklimore has plenty of optimism also. His music is fun, uplifting and he has epic moxy. Iâm sure his experience has benefited society and he gives freely to other peopleâs benefit from what his experience. I doubt he hates America. Our country is a diverse and complicated experiment, with plenty of reason to hate and love it. Everyone has a right to vent, he is a public personality and he will vent publicly, that doesnât mean he hates something because he told it to fuck off. I have told my dinosaur of a father to fuck off many times and he has returned the favor to his idealistic peace loving son, but I always come back to love him and be loved. Honesty is what makes a healthy relationship work IMHO. And Macklemore was just taking a moment to get honest with his country.
I'm going by textbook definitions of words. There is an ethnic group in their internationally agreed upon territories who are being forced from their homes by others in an ongoing effort to purge said ethnic group from the land they currently occupy. It sounds an awful lot like ethnic cleansing to me but hey at least you acknowledge it's illegal so that's a point of agreement.
For what it's worth there are Israeli citizens who actively oppose the settlements and while it's certainly possible t accuse them of "Israel-related hysteria" just as Americans opposed to Iraq, Vietnam et al have been accused of hating their own country, I expect better of anyone who isn't a right wing hardliner. War is inherently divisive and it would be cool if we could express disagreement without accusing each other of some kind of irrational, deep-seated hatred.

@61: "ongoing effort to purge said ethnic group from the land they currently occupy"
And if that were indeed going on, the ICJ undoubtedly would have said so in its advisory opinion of 19 July. It, of course, said no such thing.
Not everything illegal is ethnic cleansing. Not every tragedy is a war crime. Not every dead body is a genocide. Not every defeat for the Islamic resistance is apartheid. I read Hizbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah the other day called the exploding Hizbollah pagers a genocide. Ha ha ha! Sour grapes, Sayyid!
Bibi is a crazed warmongering madman menace to the entire world. What we ignore today will manifest in an unleashed Pandora's box upon us all. Now is the time to take hold of fate and intervene before it takes hold of us.
63, it is going on! Thatâs not my opinion, itâs a literal description of events you have already acknowledged are unlawful so i honestly donât get why you care what itâs called.
Iâve said many times my opinions are based on my own feelings and I donât need events to be literal war crimes or genocide to be personally appalled by them. I donât care what you call it when people are forced out of their homes based on their ethnicity. I think itâs wrong and indefensible and further inflames hatred in the region.
Anyway enjoy your eternal war, Iâm all set here.
@66: Right, the pager-genocide of 2024 will surely go down in history as the most heinous of crimes. Right alongside the ethnic cleansing of Ismail Haniyah and the apartheid against the Houthi ballistic missiles.
Now, you may have other names for each of these incidents, but âI honestly donât get why you care what itâs called.â
@66, "Bibi is a crazed warmongering madman menace to the entire world."

Yesterday's Slog AM commented on Israel's attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon. Today's Slog has a paragraph about Israel's attacks on Hezbollah in Lebanon. Both entries decry the deaths of civilians there. Neither entry admits the Israelis were successful in striking Hezbollah, and so neither entry mentions this specific attack:
"Hezbollah on Saturday raised the death toll among its fighters from Fridayâs airstrike to 16, including top military commander Ibrahim Aqil and many of the senior commanders of the elite Radwan force."
[...]
"Fridayâs strikeâwhich damaged a building where the fighters were meeting underground and leveled an adjacent apartment tower in the residential districtâalso killed more than a dozen civilians, according to Lebanese authorities."
When it's that blatantly obvious the civilians died because the terrorists used those civilians as human shields, there will come no outrage from the Stranger, nor from their supportive commenters here. Such civilian deaths merit not even a mention at the Stranger.
@73: Thatâs because, ironically, Israel does a far better job of distinguishing between combatants and non-combatants than the Palestinian sympathizers in this country do.
To the Palestinian sympathizers in our country, the Palestinians are just hapless colonized POCs suffering oppression for no reason. The sympathizers genuinely cannot perceive a moral difference between a defenseless Palestinian child and a rocket-toting Palestinian fighter. The death of either strikes them as equally unjust. Thatâs why they howl so loudly when a thousand Hizbollah foot soldiers get put in the hospital by their pagers. Itâs just another instance of thoughtless oppression! Itâs genocide!
@barth: Your statement @42 isn't even wrong. There are literally history books full of facts you simply ignore, so you can use the ahistorical term "ethnic cleansing." You're either totally ignorant, or you're simply lying. if you're ignorant, then you don't have the knowledge required for "...trying my best to speak and argue in good faith." If you're lying, then you're obviously not "... trying my best to speak and argue in good faith." If you were actually "... trying my best to speak and argue in good faith," then you wouldn't carelessly or intentionally use the wrong words for the things you criticize.
"I donât care what you call it when people are forced out of their homes based on their ethnicity. I think itâs wrong and indefensible and further inflames hatred in the region."
Then you should learn something about the actual founding of the modern state of Israel. (Hint: pay careful attention to the phrase, "push the Jews into the Sea.")
UN expert shocked by death of another Palestinian doctor in Israeli detention
24 September 2024
GENEVA â A UN expert today condemned the death of a third physician from Gaza while in Israeli custody and renewed calls for the protection of healthcare workers in the occupied Palestinian territory.
âOn the cusp of the one-year anniversary of the genocide, I continue to be shocked at Israelâs blatant disregard for the right to health in Gaza and the rest of the occupied territory,â said Tlaleng Mofokeng, UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health. âDr. Ziad Eldalou is the third doctor confirmed to have died while being detained by Israel since 7 October 2023.â
Eldalou was an internal medicine physician at Al Shifa Hospital, located in Gaza City. He was detained along with other healthcare workers, while on duty at Al Shifa Hospital on 18 March 2024, during a raid by Israeli Forces. He reportedly died on 21 March 2024 while in detention.
He is one of more than 885 healthcare workers reportedly killed in Gaza and the West Bank since 7 October 2023. This includes nurses, paramedics, doctors, and other medical personnel. Many more have been injured. The World Health Organization reported 1,043 health attacks in the Gaza Strip, West Bank, and East Jerusalem since 7 October 2023.
âIsrael must stop destroying and hindering the already limited functioning of the health system in Palestine, by protecting healthcare workers,â Mofokeng said.
UN expert warns of new instance of mass ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, calls for immediate ceasefire
14 October 2023
âThere is a grave danger that what we are witnessing may be a repeat of the 1948 Nakba, and the 1967 Naksa, yet on a larger scale. The international community must do everything to stop this from happening again,â the UN expert said. She noted that Israeli public officials have openly advocated for another Nakba, the term for the events of 1947-1949 when over 750,000 Palestinians were expelled from their homes and lands during the hostilities that led to the establishment of the State of Israel. The Naksa, which led to Israelâs occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in 1967, displaced 350,000 Palestinians.
âIsrael has already carried out mass ethnic cleansing of Palestinians under the fog of war,â the expert said. âAgain, in the name of self-defence, Israel is seeking to justify what would amount to ethnic cleansing.
âAny continued military operations by Israel have gone well beyond the limits of international law. The international community must stop these egregious violations of international law now, before tragic history is repeated. Time is of the essence. Palestinians and Israelis both deserve to live in peace, equality of rights, dignity and freedom,â Albanese said.
@77: You sure do put a lot of the eggs in the UN expert basket. The UN experts are political appointees, they sing the tune they were appointed to sing. They want Israel wiped off the map, and they get pissy when Israel refuses to die.

@79: Do update us on WWIII â you know, the one which started when Iran attacked Israel with missiles. Howâs that conflict going?
Look, we all understand. Very little in the current IDF-Hamas and now IDF-Hezbollah wars have gone the way you wanted. So wishing for everyone to Just Die Already is merely your fantasy version of Take My Ball And Go Home. But thatâs also very unlikely to happen. If you keep plodding down the path youâre on, youâll end up bitterly resentful of everyone around you for stubbornly remaining alive. And thatâs just not a healthy place for you.
"Very little in the current IDF-Hamas and now IDF-Hezbollah wars have gone the way you wanted. "
On the way to 180k dead Palestinians in Gaza and many more to come in Lebanon. Millions on the edge of starvation and left without housing and support infrastructure. Everything is going the way only a bloodthirsty sociopath would want.
@81: So, it turns out that terror attacks on Israeli civilians, followed by the terrorists' hiding behind Arab civilians just across the Israeli border, wasn't such a brilliant idea after all? Nobody could have predicted...
"Everything is going the way only a bloodthirsty sociopath would want."
Sadly, No!
"High civilian casualties would create worldwide pressure on Israel, Sinwar said."

The term "Zionist" is never ever (and actually never has been) defined only by those who are Jewish, and unfortunately the most zealous of those who would attempt to impose their definition upon everyone else [well That rings a bell] are precisely the people who have most destroyed its relative earlier meanings and legitimacy.
And those who know their ancient history know that the very word "zealot" references an earlier episode where extremist ideologues catalyzed some massively bad consequences for the Jews.

Mariners Ask Macklemore
After His âF- Americaâ Comment to
Be Less Divisive Like Team Sponsor Boeing
Under pressure to condemn local sports super-fan and world-famous rapper Macklemore after he said âF- Americaâ at the Palestine Will Live Forever concert Saturday, this week the Mariners released a statement asking him to be less divisive and better at bringing people together like its longtime team sponsor Boeing.
âWe just donât know why heâs divisively saying âF- Americaâ when he could be uniting everyone with something people across the political spectrum agree on these days like âF- Boeing,â our generous team sponsor,â said Mariners spokesman Hank Goodall.
âIn these politically charged times, we need to focus on what unites us, not divides us, like our shared terror every time we board a Boeing airplane, the way we all think Boeing definitely murders its whistleblowers, how we always knew those Starliner astronauts were screwed, and that Boeingâs irrationally greedy union-busting not only endangers our local economy but the entire nationâs airline and travel industries.â
Macklemore also released a statement today stating thatâalthough he feels thereâs more than enough justification to be angry at his countryâs government these daysâhe could have been more thoughtful with his words.
âWhen I said âF- America,â what I really meant was F- America rewarding a corrupt corporation like Boeing with billions of dollars we could be spending on living better lives here to instead enable the bombing of thousands of civilians including children in Palestine and Lebanon,â Macklemore posted in a note on Instagram. âThat is truly something that I think unites us all as loving, conscientious Americansâespecially, Iâm sure, those of us who are âpro-life.ââ
@76: Dr. Ahmed Aljamal, respected community leader in the Nuseirat Camp in Gaza, was killed during the rescue of Israeli hostages he was illegally imprisoning in his home. Any word from the UN on his death?
If you think using the F work on America is cool, I feel sorry for you.
@1 I feel sorry for you being dead inside when confronted with your government enabling psychos like Netanyahu
Oh no, the "Let's Go Brandon" crowd is mad that Macklemore said something mean about the country. Fuck 'em.
@2 I feel sorry for you because you're just average. @1 is right, The Stranger is to be pitied. Not cool.
Deliberate or indiscriminate attacks on civilians and impediments to the passage of humanitarian aid are direct violations of the ârules of warâ, or International Humanitarian Law.
https://depts.washington.edu/globalhealthjustice/israels-dahiya-doctrine-intentionally-violates-international-humanitarian-law/
Why is it that the people who say they want a government small enough to drown in a bathtub call for blood whenever someone else talks shit about it. If there is anything to love about this country itâs your right to criticize it however you like.
If mac feels that way about america maybe he should move to one of the islamic states that he admires so much?

@16 YOU DONâT SAY

Freedom all around, baby.
@31
What to the Slave Is the Fourth of July?

@34: lol, this was a war of choice for the Arabs. Shooting rockets at Israel is a piss-poor foreign policy, and now they are finding out why.
"These idiots shot up Israel "
The idea that Israel was just minding its own business when "idiots" started shooting at it is the most often repeated lie about the Palestine conflict.
I'll bet that almost all of those who are mad at Macklemore aren't so because of his slur but because they agree with enabling the murder of babies and their mothers. The rage at his outburst is theater to hide the ugliness of their ideas.
@38: They had a ceasefire on October 6. They threw it away on purpose.
32, The founding of Israel itself was an act of ethnic cleansing that continues to this day with the illegal settlements in the West Bank.
@42: Ethnic cleansing, my ass. Thereâs never been a nation called Palestine.
@44: They were vassals of the Ottoman Empire. Their claim to the land was never anything more than contingent.
45, I said nothing at all about the âcrippling of terroristsâ.
If you canât defend your position without resorting to reductive, Bush-era âwith us or against usâ ad hominems why are you even bothering to argue at all. Itâs just so boring.
47, They physically occupied the land and were purged from their homes just as Israel continues to do to this day in the West Bank. Ethnic cleansing.
50, so weâve gone from no ethnic cleansing is happening to a little ethnic cleansing is ok actually
The settlements are *ethnic cleansing, in addition to being illegal

Sadly, No!

What I would do is cut off all aid to Israel and stop providing diplomatic cover at the UN. A good hard dose of reality may lead to some much needed realism.
As it is, theyâre playing with house money,
so why not risk everything, every time?
The term "Zionist" is never ever (and actually never has been) defined only by those who are Jewish, and unfortunately the most zealous of those who would attempt to impose their definition upon everyone else [well That rings a bell] are precisely the people who have most destroyed its relative earlier meanings and legitimacy.
And those who know their ancient history know that the very word "zealot" references an earlier episode where extremist ideologues catalyzed some massively bad consequences for the Jews.

⌠Iran would probably pick up the phone and call the White House, congratulate them for regaining their sanity, and start to establish strong diplomatic ties, provided that America stops trying to rule the world.
Iran wants peace, as hard as that is for some people to accept. Any denial of that ignores the facts and ignores history.
