A win for getting boys out of girls sports made my day!

2

Based on current events in Venezuela, it looks like the so-called "No Kings" rallies of last year's summer had all the force of a wet napkin.

3

"Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodríguez claimed on Sunday that the US attack that removed Maduro from power 'undoubtedly has Zionist undertones.'"

ha ha ha, the socialist dictatorship couldnt wait even one day before blaming (((the Zionists))) for all their woes! 😂 I can't wait to watch our local lefties bandwagon on this latest conspiracy theory! 🤣

4

@1 excited to cancel out your vote specifically, assuming you actually live here

5

Next, Trump will mandate that each US Embassy must construct a large pyramid with a floating eye on the top, visible from all points of the compass. Novus Ordo Seclorum.

6

Phoebe dear, it's not polite to talk about your perversions outside of your dungeon.

7

Libretto68 @2: "Based on current events in Venezuela, it looks like the so-called 'No Kings' rallies of last year's summer had all the force of a wet napkin."

If I were you, I wouldn't be celebrating just yet.

8

@3 ah damn it now you and tensorna will argue to the death that anyone who opposes the Maduro op is antisemitic

9

The DOJ is charging the Maduros with violating the 1934 National Firearms Act for having full-automatic firearms - in Venezuela. Last I checked, Venezuela, while in the Americas, is not in the United States of America.

That seems like a stretch that even Trumpist judges will laugh out of court.

I can't wait to watch our local rightist bandwagon on how American gun control laws apply to a separate sovereign nation! 🤣

10

@1:

So, how do you feel about F2M Trans playing in boys' sports?

11

@7: Hush, tensorna.

12

I don't know why the state can't fund and care for the ferry system on the level of NY: The Staten Island Ferry runs 24/7 with barely a hitch as far as getting crew and having functional ferries. If I lived in Kitsap, I would be screaming bloody murder.

13

@4: I do.

14

libretto68 @11, I apologize for my insouciance, most esteemed right-wing influencer.

15

@10: Exactly the same - even though they wouldn't have an unfair advantage because of their biology. In addition it's good to not have students staging protests because of opposite sex people naked in their locker rooms - which happened in Oregon recently.

15

@9: "The DOJ is charging the Maduros with violating the 1934 National Firearms Act for having full-automatic firearms - in Venezuela. Last I checked, Venezuela, while in the Americas, is not in the United States of America. ... I can't wait to watch our local rightist bandwagon on how American gun control laws apply to a separate sovereign nation"

Uh-oh, you've had a bit of a misfire there! 😁 Maduro isn't being charged with a violation of the National Firearms Act, he's being charged with possession of a firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime. The charge is 18 USC § 924, not the NFA. Under § 924, it's not even a requirement that the possession of the firearm be illegal; merely that the firearm be possessed as part of a drug trafficking scheme. And because the firearm in this case is a machine-gun (as opposed to some other type of firearm), a conviction will add a mandatory minimum of 30 years to Maduro's sentence. 18 USC § 924(c)(1)(B)(ii). Caramba! 😂

18

Anyone else notice that the violent criminals the leftists choose to champion keep getting more violent?
George Floyd, Manuel Abrego Garcia and now Nicolas Maduro.
Maduro is an especially funny pick since you’ve been crying ‘No Kings’ and ‘Resist Tyranny’ for years.

19

@15 Still can't say I'm thrilled with gun charges personally. Or the US going around the world changing other countries' governments.

That said, the capability of US special operations forces is nothing short of astonishing - Maduro was late for his court date in NY and got spirited away without a man lost, with the entire Venezuelan military able to do nothing but say "What the-".

20

@19: If you’re going to traffic cocaine, then don’t carry a machinegun. If you’re going to carry a machinegun, then don’t traffic cocaine. A message from the ad council. 😛

Prediction - before the end of Q1 2026, Cenk Uygur, Candace Owens, and Tucker Carlson will be having cordial group podcast sessions...and Kristo will be a paying subscriber.

24

@8: Not before kristo’ uses the material @3 to “deduce” that AIPAC (or, as kristo’ repeatedly called it, “The Jewish Lobby,”) was behind it. Because bankers! ;-)

25

Tim Walz's 20-year political career vaporized by a 23 year old making a single video on an iPhone was quite something.

27

Oh god they’re already doing the “if you love maduro so much why don’t you marry him” thing. If only we could skip to the part where they pretend to have been against this the whole time.

29

@27: To be fair, though, there are plenty of Anglophone progressives who actually would marry Maduro. 😉 Counterpunch was still running Chavista articles just minutes before Maduro was arrested! 😅 See, e.g., Peter Lackowski's "Venezuela's Communes: Socialism of the Twenty-First Century," published while the US forces were gassing up the helicopters! 😂

31

@30: It should be: "Socialism or Death or Surrender Because You Can't Figure Out the Locking Mechanism on the Giant Metal Door to Your Saferoom!" 😄

32

"A city that thinks that you should have time to read a book and lay on the grass staring up at the clouds." - Katie Wilson, innaugural address

I can't tell you how excited I am about this! I too, would rather lay in the streptococcus grass of Cal Anderson staring into sky on a botanical fugue, my fellow post-capitalists blissed out around me. All work and no play makes Kossack cranky.

Yes, that work free utopia that Marx described may finally be at hand. Will it be a future as he envisioned, that transformation of socialism to full communism where full automation of the means of production, now safely and firmly in the hands of the proletariat finally liberate us from having to labor, aloowing us to instead pursue art and leisure? Nope. Not even close. But it must surely be the Minneapolis model.

Though single and childless, soon I will have documentation proving I am currently parenting 16 Somali children. And with folks like Ifrah "Iffy" Abshir at the helm, I can already smell the welfare checks in the mail! I'm sure she is plugged in with those food aid programs there, and lets just say that a city's lax means testing equals "walkin around money for Gator. It wants to walk around. It wants to stand up. It wants to buy shoes. Gator don't take no shit!"

Gator be hungry. Next, we're going to get into the Green housing upgrade contracting grift that is so successful in NYC. Changing 6 LED bulbs at a unit? $4995. A new thermal lining for an apartment door? $4999.95. Gators got himself new Sergio Tachinni threads and a 20kt cornicello! No bid micro contract = fat wallets! Pimps don't be crying!

33

@32 is it a commitment to rapacious capitalism or just the unwavering assurance that you are the smartest person in the world that led you to mock the idea that people should occasionally have free time to read a book?

36

@33: We all have time to read a book, but it's such a lofty cringe line that will be immortalized in a future movie about Wilson. I suggest Felicity Huffman.

37

@29. That is hilarious! Reminds me of this guy I met at a party in Portland (of course) back in 2000. He had just returned from Caracas after having undergone "Chavista" training. He told me Chavista style was coming to our shores. He was earnest, dedicated, and completely retarded. I engaged with him until I couldn't contain the smirking.

38

@29: Remember those golden days of Seattle in the (late) ‘90s, when Counterpunch raged against Bill Clinton, for daring to end their pet war in the former Yugoslavia? The red-orange glow of the Serbian Secret Police HQ blazing in the night, fires illuminating the hospital across the square with golden light, the one with nary a broken window from the NATO precision airstrikes? Another progressive publication bemoaned the untimely demise of another favorite war.

@33: Go ahead, go to the Seattle Central Public Library branch, check out a book, and take it to the nearest city park to read. Enjoy! (Why, it already looks like Harrell’s sweeps never even happened at all!)

@35: Ok, that gave me a laugh, twice over: imagining Wilde writing something as abjectly stupid as these people’s slogans. Whilst pining for Bosie.

39

What does the situation in Venezuela have to do with the No Kings rallies?

Remember, Libretto dear, people celebrated in Baghdad. Then came the Civil War and IED's.

40

@37, @38: I apologize for making you thinking of Counterpunch. 😄

41

One of my favorite Slog moments was last year, when Average Bob or one of the other leftwingnuts was like, “Antizionists are not anti-semitic! It’s not like antizionists are ranting about the Jewish Lobby or something!” And then two seconds later, Kristofarian showed up and started ranting about the “Jewish Lobby!” 🤣

And now sure enough, here is Kristofarian @42, yet again ranting explicitly about his “Jewish Lobby,” an argument that even the self-proclaimed “antizionists” agree is pure anti-semitism! 😂😂😂

46

"Trump Chooses Oil Over the Constitution."

At least we're getting a good price, in return for our great fun when we got "... to punish Kamala Harris and defeat her."

Why are Progressives not now reminding us that Pres. Harris would also have nabbed Maduro, after she'd warmed up with a few extra-judicial executions of Venezuelans out on the Caribbean? The two major parties are exactly the same on foreign policy, correct?

47

@17, quoting one of the London Red Tops on Seattle politics is a sign that you've given up. Sort of like Maduro's cargo sweats.

48

@46 "Why are Progressives not now reminding us that Pres. Harris would also have nabbed Maduro"

Biden increased the bounty on him to $25 million, so unless your argument is Dems would not have taken any action to accomplish a result they conspicuously also wanted, which is itself pathetic, then you should be careful what you wish for.

49

@48: Aren't you supposed to deride Biden's bounty offer as "weak," and lovingly gush over how much better manly-manly man-man Trump's gutsy action man is? Read your lines better, dude.

50

@48: invading a foreign country shooting their soldiers bombing their armored vehicles/C2 platforms and kidnapping their head of state are all acts of war, placing a bounty for the arrest of the head of state is not an act of war, this distinction maybe seems important?? 🤣

51

@50 "kidnapping their head of state"

The US, including under Biden, did not recognize him as the head of state. This is the same situation as Noriega. And the DEA have been making arrests in foreign countries for decades. Infringing the sovereignty of foreign countries is basically an American tradition. To be clear (@49) I am not in favor of this, but it's revisionist history to act like Biden and/or Harris weren't. Even Eric Adams is calling them out:

https://x.com/ericadamsfornyc/status/2007843352100638851

52

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Alvarez-Machain

53

@45: 'And now sure enough, here is Kristofarian @42, yet again ranting explicitly about his “Jewish Lobby,” an argument that even the self-proclaimed “antizionists” agree is pure anti-semitism!'

AFAIK, AIPAC spends a lot of money for little result. Rep. Bowman started his last race down by ten points, AIPAC spent money there, and he lost by 17 points. "We Make Big Losers Lose Bigger!" seems like a rather dubious brag, at least to me. Shouldn't they spend their money somewhere it might actually change the outcome of an election?

If kristo' could either stop or think, he might wonder why he keeps fluffing AIPAC. I guess his paranoid style of American politics requires An Other in the central role, and the whole "perfidious Jews with money" paranoid obsession, which far predates the Protocols amongst some gentiles, means AIPAC can fill that role. So, to the extent he has any influence at all, he dedicates it to making AIPAC look bigger and more frightening than it really is. (Way to read the room!)

@50: eh, just details to a "big picture" guy like 1312. ;-)

54

@51: “it's revisionist history to act like Biden and/or Harris weren't.”

oh yeah now that you mention it I do remember that time Biden bombed Caracas and blew up a bunch of armored vehicles and killed dozens of soldiers and kidnapped people 😂 thanks for correcting my “revisionist history’ you obivously know what your talking about 🤣🤣🤣

The unlimited American support for the Israeli occupation allowed Israel to carry out genocide for two consecutive years and was a major reason for the deaths and injuries of more than 240,000 Palestinians in Gaza out of a population of about 5.5 million or about 5% of Palestine's people.

. . . But I actually totally wish the best for the Palestinians and that someone totally helps them out before they are inevitably bombed to death–no one should die on an empty stomach.

My latest check from AIPAC cleared, so it’s not going to be me, but I certainly hope someone else does!”

When asked who she’s specifically hoping to see step up to help them instead of herself in any actionable way, Sen. Cantwell said she was really counting on President Donald Trump to do something instead.

“Look, I can’t do anything right now because I’ve cashed more than $500,000 from AIPAC and I’m still hoping to someday cash more than $6 million from them like my California colleague, Sen. Adam Schiff,” Sen. Cantwell said.

“But maybe President Trump will do something for them! Or NGOs could just figure something else out on their own? Man, I dunno, I have a Lake Washington yacht to catch.

I just want to be clear, though: I’m not against anything good happening to the Palestinians – it’s just that my AIPAC rep needs to know I’m not involved in it in anyway. I’m just a U.S. Senator and my hands are tied in the finest velvet.”

At press time, Sen. Cantwell said she’s also not against someone helping out all her cash-strapped Washington constituents who could have really used all the billions in U.S. tax dollars sent to help Israel instead, but she really hopes someone does!
