A lawnmower at Mar-a-Lago. Whoops, someone dropped fifteen boxes full of allegedly illegally obtained documents on the lawn, oh no, sure would be a shame if someone ran over them! Joe Raedle / Getty Images

As seasoned a reporter as Maggie Haberman is, there's nothing about those photos to indicate they're actually toilets in the White House. A wider shot of the bathroom would at least offer proof for those familiar with the residence. Pretty easy thing to fake.

Have a fun vacation!
Remember 3 things - clams, lobster and Red Sox!(although they’re looking like toast this year) Enjoy!

6

That's a picture for the ages - Mar-A-Lago sealed off with crime scene tape.

7

It's all starting to make sense.

Charles Mudade is the trust fund scion of a wealthy Nigerian family (oil? Government corruption?).
And now it turns out Matt Baume comes from a family that vacations on Cape Cod.

Hmmm.... I think I see a pattern.

Could their unrealistic view of the world, and their unrealistic views of responsibility and accountability come from the fact that they are both just rich spoiled brats, who always got their way growing up, until finally they didn't?

No worries, Matt, the new bike lanes will soon be clogged and blocked by dilapidated RVs and camper vans populated with our finest residents.

@7 - I think you may be onto something there.

Trump’s loo and many rich people’s bathrooms are sparkly-spotless because some 54-year-old undocumented Latina scrubs it daily for $5 and hour. Bless her. What surprises me is that the toilet isn’t, like, 18-karat gold. He goes in for that kind of shit.

Rest in peace, Sweetheart. Olivia was one of the good ones.

For the rest stop I vote for a well-maintained glory hole for the down lowers. That’s kinda what they turn into anyway except for the well-maintained part.

I don’t even want to think about animal cruelty in 1970. Have to focus resources on the here and now. Poor orcas – one of the fucking symbols of the Pacific Northwest treated in such a way.

Provincetown in a zoo this time of year. Well, as zooey as Easterners get. But maybe you aren’t headed for P-Town if it’s a family vacation – unless you mean “family” instead of family. Not usually a family destination in August. I was surprised by all the cottages in the heat of summer all through the Cape that sold Christmas decorations. I guess that’s the thing to do? Buy an ornament in July? Have a swell time. Give my regards to Truro.

"Family vacation on Cape Cod." Ugh.

14

I bet two guys with Federal Booby Inspector badges robbed Trump's safe, and Eric was home watching the house but too zooted on coke to know the difference.

@7 I see I'm not the only one who thinks Matt is privileged. He just doesn't seem to realize it. Now we know why he thinks everyone can afford an uptown apartment within walking distance to everything so they have no need for those evil, evil cars that transport them to work, grocery, and errands in a timely manner so they don't have to spend half the fucking day on the bus just to get food for their kids.

15

@7 Sir Toby II exactly! Quarantining before a vacation to Cape Cod. How posh. How many "homeless" people could they fit into those mansions on Cape Cod? How many homeless people do you think you'd actually see in Cape Cod?!

17

Our coastal elites are better than your coastal elites

18

@7 Sigh. You do realize that Mudede is from Zimbabwe, not Nigeria, right? I mean, I know that they all look the same to you, but Zimbabwe is about 2000 miles from Nigeria, or about the distance from Russia to Portugal. At least try to keep up.

Not to mention that having a family vacation on Cape Cod is roughly like having a family vacation on Lake Chelan. Sure, there are plenty of high-end places to stay, but there's also lots of cheap places away from the coast. Not to mention that the Venn diagram for "Had a family vacation on Cape Cod" and "Lived in Eastern MA or RI" are pretty much a single circle.

19

Why do these gibbering losers persist in reading and commenting every sing day on a paper that they clearly hate and for which they have nothing but contempt. It’s fucking bizarre.

20

@19. Sunken cost fallacy.

21

@18: Thank you. Since when did flying home to see family become a gotcha? And yeah that whole "rich Nigerian" thing stinks to high heaven.

24

@22: "...these are real people."

Do you know who else are "real people"? The citizens of Seattle, who, since the Homelessness Crisis (TM) began, have collectively spent over half a billion of their tax dollars on expensively failed attempts to house a few thousand persons. These efforts have all failed, in part, because the politicians and policies the Stranger supports have all failed. Rather than admit these multiple interlocking failures, the Stranger continues the behaviors which encouraged and enabled these failures: lying about the homeless population's origins, lying about the problems this population has, and lying about the housed citizens of Seattle. The latter, despite their generosity, are routinely castigated as poor-hating, ignorant bigots, just as Matt did at the start of this very post (before jetting off to a family holiday in a tony vacation spot, of course).

What did the people of Seattle do to deserve Matt's bitterly caustic criticism of them? Have you any idea? Or do such "real people" simply just not concern you all that much? You seem to have plenty of sympathy for the chronically-privileged writers here, as they routinely insult any of their fellow citizens who dare to disagree with them.

27

Sorry Matt, but I'm on team eco blocks. Have you strolled by an RV encampment lately? It's full of trash and broken shit that druggies steal and drag back in their drug-induced haze.

I have no problem with the homeless, but due to their lack of giving one single fuck about their surroundings or neighbors, businesses (you know... the places they could potentially have JOBS at) are dealing with the fallout of unsanitary conditions and a rodent problem that has the potential for food producers/providers to lose their certifications and licenses with the proper authorities. You don't wanna live by societal rules? Sorry bud, it's time to find another place to go fuck up.

28

Most cities have RV parking lots where you can get water, electricity, trash, and sewage services. Why don’t we do that here? We got all the abandoned space in the industrial district(or to stick it to the wealthy by using the king county BFI airport) that we could convert into RV parking, even in other cities and go back to banning RV parking on city streets afterwards. Seems pretty simple how to fix it.

30

@28: "Most cities have RV parking lots where you can get water, electricity, trash, and sewage services. Why don’t we do that here?"

From 2016:

'“We tried it,” said Sola Plumacher, a Human Services Department strategic adviser. “We realized it wasn’t the most effective use of dollars.”'

[...]

'The city was spending $35,000 a month, or about $1,750 per vehicle — as much as it costs to rent an apartment — to run its first intensively managed safe lot in Ballard, opened in February and providing drinking water, electricity, round-the-clock security and an on-site case manager. The RVs that came there were so large the site could accommodate only 20 of them, less than half the number planned, said Plumacher, the Human Services adviser.'

@18

Thank you for pointing out my mistake. There is a huge difference between Zimbabwe and Nigeria.

I caught it immediately but wasn’t sure how to best correct it.

And I was honestly curious if anyone would catch it.

Nigeria is a relatively wealthy country for Africa (because of the oil). When thinking of generational wealth Zimbabwe is not the first country that comes to mind.

32

It's serious popcorn eating time watching the Republicans rage in hysterical outrage regarding the FBI raid. To quote Chuck D.'s post on social media today: Dear Trumpers, Trump picked the FBI director that raided his home. Ok bye.
LOL
Defund the FBI?
They can't even come up with their own ideas.
OH AND
DeSantis knew and didn't warn Trump (for obvious reasons).
McConnell as said not one word about the situation. crickets
Now if they would just finish destroying each other until nothing is left, the rest of us could get on with our lives.

33

@31 You can always post a followup comment. That's what I do pending a post editing feature.

It's an open question how much of that oil wealth trickles down and how much stays concentrated at the top, but Nigeria's average GDP per capita is definitely higher. I only know enough about Zimbabwe to know how little I know and that I shouldn't opine.

34

@4:

Go back to counting bullet-riddled dead bodies, you worthless fuck.

35

@7 Funny how with assholes like you will always bash someone who's parents have any money if they argue for a better world for all of us workers, yet will praise as self-made any asshole who takes that silver spoon they were born with, and use it as a key to open a life of greed and exploitation of the working class. Folks like you are why I became a radical leftist, and not a Marxist like Charles. Gulags are inefficient, and the French showed that the Guillotine is a much more effective tool for social justice reform.

@32 xina: Game, set, & MATCH for the WIN!!! Well done!
Bring on the white cheddar popcorn, red wine, and dark chocolate! Let the Orange Turd and its neofascist army of RepubliKKKans finish destroying each other until the last one's gone. I hope it's soon. Our dying planet can't wait much longer for global justice to be served.

39

May the cruel and greedy opportunists guilty of capturing and exploiting Puget Sound's Southern resident orcas in 1970 to be used as circus trick marine animals roast in hell for their inhumane profiteering actions.
Sea World should be shuttered.

@25: Thank you for that risibly entertaining failure at basic reading comprehension. I wrote nothing about anyone having opinions, because of course everyone is entitled to have opinions. What I did write —which you ignored in favor of your tedious strawman-bashing — was that no one, not even the very privileged writers here at the Stranger, get to make up their own facts to support their opinions.

@26: Thank you for that risibly entertaining failure at slightly-more-advanced reading comprehension. You didn’t have to scan the article, you just had to read the first paragraph (which I had specifically mentioned). In it, Matt claimed the good citizens of Seattle’s West Seattle neighborhood “…didn’t like seeing the effects of the housing crisis, because if you can’t see poor people, then their problems don’t exist.” Following his link back to the West Seattle Blog, we found some better reasons local residents did not want the camp to return: it had been there for six years, and during the cleanup, SDOT’s “crews removed and disposed of an estimated 50,000 pounds of trash and debris.”

For not wanting DOZENS OF TONS OF GARBAGE festering in their neighborhood FOR MANY YEARS, Matt attacked the good citizens of West Seattle as poor-haters — all before jetting off to his tony vacation spot, of course. Yet you defended Matt’s dignity as a human being, without the slightest consideration for anyone he’d intentionally slandered. So perhaps you’re not actually qualified to lecture anyone else on being “…the biggest douche imaginable”, because Matt put on a clinic in such behavior, and you didn’t call him on it.

41

@39: Fuck you, Ted Griffin! May you and your Southern resident orca abducting-for-profit henchmen rot in Hell, and shark-infested waters be waiting for you. Let's see you jump and dive on command to a school of Great Whites. And this time there will be no Chief Brody of Fire Island to save your sorry asses.
