https://www.cdc.gov/foodsafety/communication/leafy-greens.html - I'm not speculating why the blame is going towards the Mexican restaurant, I'm just pointing out that the CDC's fact sheet doesn't necessarily support placing it there.

"Prewashed greens sometimes cause illness. But the commercial washing process removes most of the contamination that can be removed by washing."

The PNA had been holding the annual event with the "escaped Woodland Park Zoo" monkeys for several years before Weary was hired. It was not begun during her tenure. Why did you not mention this in the article?

Further, Shoreline Police arrested two brothers for the coffee shop arson. The brothers were trying to get even with the previous tenant of the building because the tenant had towed a car of one of the brothers.

Your reporting is disgraceful.

@bopsie
+1!

Please. No more Dahmer. No more Manson. No more Bundy. At this point it’s all just murder porn.

7

Seattle used to be hardcore about jaywalking. I had a friend who must have gotten ten tickets. I know I got a few. They were forty dollars each.

Oh, Ms. Vel-DuRay. You can say that again. There was a motorcycle cop that used to hand out around 4th and Stewart in the early daylight hours. Didn't know it at the time, but he was legend. I lived on 4th Ave in Belltown when I used to have to catch a 5:25 AM bus to Southcenter down below The Bon. I was running and running late one sunlit summer morning to catch my bus. I looked both ways on Stewart and there wasn't a car in sight - really like a ghost town at that time of day. I crossed the street while the sign said Don't Walk. Before I knew it, that jerk was up my ass writing me a ticket. And he really was a jerk: smug and rude. Wanted to fight it in court, but couldn't take the time off from work. So, a quick $40 for the coffers. Heard later that that is what this cop did almost exclusively - write early morning jaywalking tickets. Still a little angry about it - him getting away with that. Still wouldn't mind getting him into a small room and slapping him around a little.

I mean there were NO cars. And he made me miss my bus.

shoobop The "monkey" blurb is a sensationalized version of events. The arson blurb has is also sensationalized and has nothing to do with the lawsuit. Further, you are blatantly making up facts about motive in avoiding hate crimes charges unless, of course, you are one of the brothers. Are you?

Oh good, now that we've normalized walking everywhere in public while never looking up from your phone, it's time to destigmatize walking into traffic. This is going to end well.

Princess A, Your diatribe was all over the place, but, I believe you are recommending doing away with the monkey exhibit at the zoo, much like they did away with elephants several years ago. Am I correct?

@10 what does this button do?: +1 My thoughts exactly. I'm still reeling about a recently passed California state law allowing motorcyclists to drive between freeway lanes (???!!!). I wonder how many Evel Knievel wannabes have been killed while inter-navigating on the Golden State's 8-lane nightmares? Can motorists--especially truck drivers of large, often oversized rigs---even see them merging? WTF ever happened to common sense?
Washington State's most useless traffic law in my opinion, is "Keep Right Except to Pass". Good luck in ever getting over to the left lane when or if you need to make a left turn. There are way too many "Me First"ers. And don't get me started on road raged drivers. My beloved and I don't even bother driving on I-5 anymore, it has gotten so crazy. SR20 east of Anacortes and through Burlington is getting just as bad. I have fond memories of when it wasn't.

Matt---why are you satirizing the Orange Turd's custom-appointed U.S. Extreme Court? Please stop, sarcasm or no sarcasm. What's happening is not the least bit funny. The Orange Turd and its loyalists are only laughing their filthy asses off--at our expense.

@6 Bauhaus I: +1 Agreed.
