the man never identified himself as transgender.

So, if this guy identifies himself as transgender, it's cool then?

He did not express a female gender identity through voice, dress, or mannerisms.

What could this possibly mean?
2
@1: It does seem problematic when we say that gender is all about what you feel you are, but then acting "like a woman" through voice, dress, or mannerisms is used as a legal-ish benchmark.

3
@1 and @2 the bottom line bench mark is being in the bathroom to use the bathroom. You both should closely examine the venn diagram of the linked tweet in order to understand yourselves better.
4
The Venn diagram lacks a non overlapping circle for actual transgender people...

Double talk from Human Rights Commission.
Its own rule does not require any outward manifestation of womanhood.
But good that it realizes how stupid their rule is written.
What a fucking mess.
6

Doubletalk from @3 as well

There once was a city named Seattle,
Where men and women were interchangeable cattle,
A man approached a venus,
Showed her his penis,
Now the feminists are getting all rattled.
8
@3: You seem confused, so you are saying all this guy had to do to use the women's room legally is taking a leak? That is not even close to what the legal definition of a trans person is, nor is it close to what the existing law says. Read up.

@8
Under the law all a guy has to do is claim, that's assuming anyone asks him, is to say that he "identifies as a woman".
The Rule does not require any kind of outward manifestation or historical background.
And before someone tells me that I'm an asshole sexist, go read the Rule. I didn't write it but I know how to read.

What enforcement options actually exist? This article makes it sound like businesses are free to kick out transwomen and have nothing to fear other than a sternly worded protest note.

@7:
There once was a discussion thread
Whose members weren't right in the head.
Engaging with fascination
In such mental masturbation,
You can tell the SLOG community's dead.
12
@10
Just the opposite.
Business _cannot_ kick out anyone so long as they claim gender identity for bathroom they are using.

I have a common sense proposal. Public facilities should provide privacy. If gyms do not wish to design their changing facilities to provide a basic level of privacy, they may reclassify themselves as sex clubs, with appropriate disclosure and signage. And of course, prosecute any school official who has arranged for school children to be naked together.

So a cis-gendered man opposed to protecting trans people from discrimination entered a womens' restroom in order to stir shit up, and this is supposed to demonstrate that trans people shouldn't be allowed to use the appropriate bathroom. Yeah, that's complete horse shit, for the simple and undeniable reason that __this was not a trans person trying to use the bathroom and his inappropriate conduct was his alone__. No amount of mental gymnastics trying to use this to poke holes in non-discrimination law can avoid that completely insurmountable fact.

Lying about being trains, for what it's worth, would not be a magic talisman, and only in the warped, feverish, logical-positivist mind of a Redditer do we need absolute ironclad incontrovertible proof that someone is lying before we can call them on their shit. Luckily, the rest of us somehow manage to navigate a universe that's 99% gray areas without losing our minds.

@12

That's obviously not true. You are conflating can't and shouldn't. They obviously can.

What is the punishment they face if they do?

...also, why are both sides of this issue argued by people that insist on ignoring reality?

One side insists that it's impossible to kick creepers out of bathrooms, the other insists no creepers will attempt to exploit the law. Both those positions are idiotic.
16
He's just as trans as anyone else. Because your fucking dress, mannerisms, and voice are not what makes you a woman. Just because that's what dudes see to emulate doesn't mean that's being a woman. You may as well say drag is womanhood.
17
"a female gender identity through voice, dress, or mannerisms"

That's right, if you're a girl, you better act like a girl. Well that just set things back about fifty years.
18
A little heads up would be nice. Play a walk on song in the dressing room like free the lady marmalade, so that anyone offended would have the chance to leave.
19
Lulz! This doofus just said, "free the lady marmalade." Ha ha ha ha!

A woman is claiming the local Salvation Army discriminated against her because she is transgender.

Jennifer Ney, who identifies as a transgender woman, is traveling through Amarillo on her way to Oklahoma. After a stop at Northwest Hospital to repair a broken cast, Ney spent Wednesday night at the Salvation Army and claims she was not allowed to sleep in the female dorms.

She currently has facial hair because she has not been able to obtain her hormone medication.

(Commenter's note: Estrogen does not make male facial hair evaporate.)

"All people we see are created with equal value," said Johnson. "I feel confident that under the circumstances we probably did the best that we could. We offered the person a private room and they chose to stay out in the lobby."

Stefonknee just needs to pee!

And get fucked up the ass by "her" daddy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbiAHnjH…

"She" also needs to stay in a *women's* homeless shelter after getting a restraining order for abusing "her" wife.

This is what idiotic trans apologists are unleashing on the girls and women in Washington state. Let the backlash commence.

I AM A WOMAN AND WONDER WHY THE TRANS COMMUNITY HATES WOMAN SO MUCH? WHY DO YOU FEEL IT NECESSARY TO STRIP A WOMAN OF OUR RIGHT TO PRIVACY? WHY DO YOU FEEL THAT IT IS OK TO INFRINGE ON THE RIGHTS WE FOUGHT SO MUCH TO OBTAIN .. YOU HAVE PERSONALLY SET WOMEN BACK HUNDREDS OF YEARS.

You make it seem that there is no other choice. I disagree. There are family bathrooms that anyone could use. Are you so afraid of being in a same sex bathroom that you are willing to stomp on the rights of a woman? Why so much hate toward us? I personally will be the first one to call security if I catch a man in a womans bathroom. You seem to forget that there is a whole other classification of men who would fit in this category that are heterosexual... crossdressers. You just opened the door to pedifiles.. rapist and perverts. When the rape and abuse of women happens just because You have a need.... it's all on YOU. Really thinking now of doing the conceal and carry which legal here in Illinois. That way when this threatens those I love, I will be able to protect my rights.

Please wait...
