Not sure how we can conclude that he's not running for president again; given we may be quite sure that if the brokered convention bosses asked him he'd grab the opportunity in a salt-lake-second (he's still convinced that he's the fulfillment of the White Horse prophecy)

How about Caitlyn Jenner for new RepubliKKKan spokesnut? She's crazy popular on the Twits, and she'll be screaming her "Heil Cruzes" all the way into the gas chambers with the rest of us.

I presume that, as a previous (albeit unsuccessful) nominee of his Party, he's perceived as something of an "elder statesman" who holds some sway with the faithful who voted for him in 2012. I'm not at all sure that's a well-founded perception, but the GOP establishment seems so desperate that they'll try just about anything to derail Drumpf's juggernaut, and I guess trotting out their last has-been Presidential candidate to stump against him is the best idea they can come up with for the moment.

The GOP base that Trump appeals to is like a hard core drug addict, mainlining drugs at levels that would kill a normal person. Their need for a bigger fix to get high just keeps getting worse.

I easily tire from parsing your rambling writing patterns of contradictory sentiments Matt, would you have preferred Mitt not say anything at all?

We didn't want him for President then, and we don't want him now. What part of "losing a national election" did Mitt Romney fail to understand?

@6: Mitt was content to not run, but felt compelled to speak out against Trump. He's not running for the presidency. Sure, if they go beyond the first ballot in Cleveland and Mitt agree's to be considered - that's something different. But making a speech against Trump by the last Republican nominee does send a message (as did McCain's statements), at the very minimum puts his protest against Trump on the record for historical purposes.

So why is Romney an asshole for calling Trump an asshole, exactly?
