If you want to hear grunge in its squirming, embryonic form, check out "33 Revolutions Per Minute" by Green River, the crucial Seattle band featuring future Mudhoney prime movers Mark Arm and Steve Turner, as well as future Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament and drummer Alex Vincent. It will appear on an LP titled 1984 Demos that Portland-based Jackpot Records is issuing on Record Store Day, April 16. (Also on RSD, Jackpot's reissuing Etta James's At Last! with four extra tracks on green vinyl.) Produced in cooperation with Arm, Turner, Ament and producer Jack Endino, 1984 Demos contains the first previously unheard recordings by Green River; Jackpot's pressing 2,000 copies, which include a double-sided concert poster, band sticker, and a download.
