just horrific.

Seems like she was a nice person. Her murder's a bad thing. No words, really.
3
Good writing Ansel.

"I'm not sure what she's told you about our relationship"

Unless he says "she responded to my post on Craiglist looking for a willing cannibal victim" how much do we really care what their relationship was "about"? I really hate to assume someone is guilty on what is basically circumstantial evidence, but one does not in general get killed by a human butcher by accidentally running into them on the street corner.

@3: Thank you.

@5: That hasn't stopped the tabloids all over the place from running with it... take a gander at Google results for her name.
7
@6: makes sense. pretty, sympathetic white woman, relatively handsome killer, lurid details. they'll move units with this story for months.
8
Well, this is unbelievably gruesome. My heart (and donations) go out to the woman's daughters.
9
How is the Mariners score relevant to this tragedy?
10
Why is bail even on the table?
11
@9: Although such tangential information is unnecessary, it provides orientation or "color" to a story and is also helpful to those readers whom would be curious about that particular detail.
14
@5, in your dreams. From his initial statement to the cops, he looks to be setting up some half-assed "blotto blackout" defense.
15
At what point does a criminal history become an "extensive criminal history"?

16
@7: They give journalists Pulitzers for this kind of stuff.

@14: half-assed "blotto blackout" defense

Given the evidence so far, it does appear he drank too much, lost his shit with her, and then proceeded past the point of no return.

Being a mean drunk isn't much of a defense - Connor Schierman was sentenced to death for completely out of nowhere murdering an entire family while black-out drunk. This asshole won't get anything less than a life sentence.
17
@15: 3 arrests.
18
Many states have laws that say voluntary intoxication is not a defense. Not sure if Washington is one.
19
@16 I was thinking of Schierman too when this guy was arrested and told his story. Blackout drunk is not credible defense.
21
@17? What three arrests? This posts mentions the restraining order (not an arrest), the aggravated robbery (an arrest), and negligent driving (an arrest)? It doesn't mention the marijuana possession charge.

If one had just two arrests in 37 years would that not be an extensive criminal history? Does it have to be three or more?
22
@15, @21

Maybe it becomes "extensive" retroactively when people looking at the criminal history are likely to say, "Yep, anyone could have seen this coming."
23
If a psycho, homeless, “mean drunk” like Charlton can date someone as seemingly attractive as Ingird Lyne for a couple of months (as friends supposedly told KOMO), then I guess there's hope for everyone.
24
@22 Threatening to kill and eat his own MOTHER would cause anyone to believe they could see this coming.

It doesn't matter if he was drunk or not, he is clearly someone who poses an unacceptable threat to society, which should be enough to have him imprisoned or committed. They're probably trying this defense to get his sentence shorter than life with no parole. I don't see how it's going to work, he had enough clarity to cut up her body, clean up the horrible carnage, transport and dispose the pieces in different places and used her car instead of his own. Just beyond horrific, her poor kids, I'm glad they have family who clearly are loving and caring, they will need lifetime counseling over this.
25
@22 I consider 2 plus convictions of felonies, or a felony and numerous misdemeanors convictions as an extensive criminal record. This suspect is kind of borderline, given he did have a felony conviction..
26
Ingrid Lynne's murderer is a louder than usual voice howling in the Manisohere. He has made every woman's worst fear real, while quieter assholes babble about the threat posed posed by gender neutral restrooms.

None
27
@21: yes, it has to be 3 arrests at a minimum. per the rules that I made up just now.

Please wait...
