See ya, evil old white dude Andrew Jackson!

The Treasury Department is going to announce today that Harriet Tubman will appear on the twenty-dollar bill. CORRECT. "Other depictions of women and civil rights leaders will also be part of new currency designs," according to The New York Times. ALSO CORRECT.

Alexander Hamilton's not budging from the ten, because the Broadway musical Hamilton has made him hot again. Well, okay.

So my first thought is to wonder about the difference between elevating Harriet Tubman to money—if you believe that money is a place of value—and "elevating" Black subjects to the center of old European paintings, as Kehinde Wiley does? (It's also funny that the reason Hamilton is staying on the bill is because of a musical in which people of color play—are "elevated" to?—white historical figures. Note: Hamilton did come from the West Indies but was Scottish, and seen as white in his time.)

First thoughts.
