I think I-5 will have heavy traffic to Lynden with half (if not most) of Seattle driving Sat. morning to protest Trump.

hell, canucks'll be coming down to flip him off.

@1: You just insulted the ~13,000 people that live in Lynden, WA. Why?

This is town that will fine you for not mowing your lawn and also will fine you if now on Sunday. They only recently allowed buying alcohol on Sundays and dancing and drinking in the same establishment. Very Stepford Wives kind of place. Also, the only town in the US that you have to drive between two cemeteries to enter it

Lynden sounds like a perfect Utah town.
8
Why would you encourage people to protest? Drumpf loves any kind of publicity.
9
Someone in my office knows someone on his campaign (lucky me) - apparently Ed Murray cancelled their rally permit and they were scrambling for a location yesterday.
10
Protest away, but let the awful little man speak. Every time he opens his mouth the shows how stupid he is.
11
@9: meaning he thought he could hold a rally IN SEATTLE? i don't believe a Republican has attempted such a thing in the quarter-century i've been here.
12
If only there was an active student movement at a nearby state university to organize a large scale protest.
Hasn't SLOG been covering the shitstorm at WWU the past few months?
13
I hope all the protesters follow MLK's rules about non-violence. If there is violence, let it all be at the hands of the Trumpsters.

@11, the last Republican presidential candidate I remember holding a public rally in Seattle was John Anderson at the UW in 1980. He was the proto-Bernie of that year, once you'd set your watch to Reagan Standard Time. Most of them just stop off at the Super ATM in Medina.

How quickly the opinion changes when it is people talking that we don't like. it still is free speech people. I cant stand Trump, but the idea that protesting him will send a positive message for your cause is flawed. When I see someone counter protest anything I usually think "look at that asshole preventing free speech". Ignore Trump and his supporters. Don't give him more press. Maybe someday we can stop hearing his name every day. Please do not fuel the fire, we all want it to burn out.

@15: There a difference between protesting the content of the speech, and those who protest the the right to speak. The former should be celebrated, nobody's really doing the latter - otherwise you'd see protesters in front of city hall protesting the granting of the permit.

@15:

Nobody is disputing that Drumph has a right to speak or that his followers have a right to hear him. But he doesn't have a right to be isolated from criticism of what he says. It has nothing to do with "sending a positive message" - that's where YOUR thinking is flawed. It's about letting him and his supporters know there is a vocal, active opposition in-place that will stand up against them. Ignoring racists, bigots, misogynists, and RWNJ's doesn't make them disappear, it just makes them think they can get away with being racists and bigots, because nobody is calling them out on it.

@16 and @17

Every time someone tries to shut Trump up it encourages more Trumpies. No matter what side you are on no one likes to be told they are idiots, or a racist bigots. Plenty of them are not racist bigots and are only fueled by the rhetoric. Just like Dems don't like to be told they are wealth fare grabbers and lazy people that want the government to do everything.

At some point people need to stop with the hate talk and go with a level headed conversation. Trump I disagree with your stance on Muslim refugees. It is unconstitutional and un-American. We can do things to protect Americans, but doing judging people by religion is wrong. Trump your comments on women are demeaning to women and your tone is not one I want for a leader of our Country. Calling all supporters names doesn't do it.
