To be fair, the original report identified the nonexistent intersection of 33rd and Jackson. (I myself wondered if it was supposed to be 23rd.)

I don't think the allegation was that it was a false flag (after all, wouldn't a group of people targeting a race in order to frame racists by definition be racists?), but rather that it was just a hoax.

dollars to donuts this group of white "men" was a group of white jr.-high age teens.

this just feels really odd and out of character for seattle. can anyone think of a similar incident in the last 25 years?

@9 I'm thinking her attackers are as real as these Pokemon monsters running the streets. It's sad because phony, made up hate crimes are the ultimate disrespect to victims of real ones. Fake hate crimes are all the rage now. Someone should do their PHD thesis on the mass imagined victim hysteria driving it. They want to be victims so badly they need to make up shit to get their social media 15 minutes.

@8:

Yeah, Christians just bomb or shoot up federal buildings, women's health centers, churches, mosques, synagogues, and Sikh temples, public parks...
13
@7: really? gangs of white men preying on black women walking with children is pretty common?

wow, have I been living a sheltered life. I had no idea we were in a race war.
15
@13 No - @7 is being hyperbolic. There is no ongoing problem of groups of white men in uniform loitering around waiting for a black person to assault on a regular, ongoing basis. Not in Seattle or anywhere else in the country. Even the police don't have the temerity for that, they need to wait for a phone call.
17
@5 The Seattle Times had an article in the last month discussing how Black people in Seattle are more likely to be victims of hate crimes, and they're not exactly known for their progressive leftist views.......
18
Timing of police/media report, lack of detail, whole event seems very odd.
When was last time you saw NINE ADULT white males together outside except at an event such as Gay Pride or baseball game?

Not saying it didn't happen but alleged incident doesn't feel right.
19
@18

Gotta love how racist love to cry in disbelief when they see instances of racism.

Instances of more than 9 white males huh? Youve never seen it?

1- Post Seahawks games downtown
2- Cap Hill on a Thur - Sat nights
3-Mariners games downtown
4- All of downtown minus the international district and belltown on the weekends
5- any of the 'heroin' hangouts all over the city
6- Westlake any time of day
7- U district any time of day

Thats seven places where you will find that many in groups off the top of my head. Do you live in Seattle? Like IN seattle, not "In Yakima or Duvall or Kitsap or Clearview but avid reader of the times"?

@19
You don't have the facts in your favor.
Enough said.
21
@16.....I recall a group of 3 white tourists from Rhode Island who were beaten by a group of Black people while walking near the bus tunnel last year.
22
Yes, anyone who expects a newspapers to confirm any part of unsubstantiated claims in a screenshot of an anonymous text message click conversation posted to twitter, is obviously racist.
23
I'm inclined to agree. Absolutely no details at all just an unconfirmed reportage. As of late there have been too much false reportage of hate type crimes related to race, gender, social class, and ethnicity. Rachel Dolezal, who impersonated being Black told a lot of untrue stories about her family as being physically abused. She reported to the Spokane police about finding a noose on her front porch. This whole thing might be a cry for attention.
24
Would be nice to hear update from Stranger, even if means writing that story was fake.
Then again Stranger is not about reality but furthering fantasies of writers.
25
why does it have to be fake or a false flag? if i was beat up by a group of people for no reason i might jump to the conclusion there was a group of people wandering around beating up people for no reason.
26
Unless of course it never happened in the first place.
27
@18 Lots of things don't feel right doesn't mean it's not true. For instance I am black and fit some people that doesn't feel right. Does that mean I am not black? Cause sometimes ...

Please wait...
