Probably because there is nothing that interesting on the ballot this time around and frankly, isn't this like the fifth fucking ballot we've had to do this year? And we still have the big one coming up?
Seriously, there does come a point when voter fatigue creeps in.
Too many damn elections. We shouldn't be voting every 3 months. What is it, January, April, August, November? C'mon... Have a primary and a general, and limit "ballot measures" of any sort to JUST the November general election.
Will that crowd your ballot? Then make it so we aren't voting on every tax increase and have our elected officials simply vote to raise taxes in the legislature like they do in every other state with a brain, even for capital projects. Elected officials don't want that grief because it will piss off voters and limit careers? Other states do just fine in that regard. Yes, I've heard all these reasons as criticisms of this notion.
How do you pass Sound Transit 3 in a sane world? Have each county's legislature just vote the damn thing in. All three ratified ST3? Swell, we're done. Raise your taxes to get the revenue and build your train. Voters don't like it? Vote the bastards out of office next election.
Concerns about politician longevity are NOT valid concerns.
@10 Going to assume that you meant county councils instead of county legislatures, because one is a thing and the other sounds like a nightmare.
I will also add to the "voter fatigue" argument. When you have ballots every 3 months, they become much easier to ignore, especially if it's only for a school levy and you don't have kids. I vote in each one mostly to be sure the GOP doesn't try to challenge my registration.

I would have missed the deadline!
