Omg, you are even more of an old bitter music snob than me! You forgot to complain about cell phones and how loud the bass was though, someone might mistake you for a millennial.
"...One pundit estimated the average Bumbershoot patron's age to be 20. That may be a bit high."
Probably. That's about the only age bracket that's still gullible enough to pay the kind of money that Bumbershoot is charging now and still think they're getting any kind of value for the money.
The lows- only 5 stages-Memorial, Mural, Key* (and you couldn't really get to one of them without being in line all day,) KEXP, Exhibition/Fountain Lawn, EMP.*not really a stage- silent disco.. remember the Northwest Court stage, the Alki Stage, The Broad St. Stage The Fountain stage etc- was so much more diverse and the value for $ was crazy good... More expensive ticketing for less hours* some artists were given 30 minutes TOTAL to play their sets- about 6 songs- pathetic. , less music, less food choices, more militant screening/ searches - I DID very much enjoy the bands I did see but am seriously reconsidering for next year if I will skip for the first time since 1992.
I went to Bumbershoot all three days last year because there were plenty of acts I wanted to see. This year I couldn't justify a single day and didn't go at all. I hope this year's weak lineup was just a blip and not a trend (though since I'm pushing 50 I'm guessing, for me at least, it's the latter).
Flatstock exhibitors also seemed to have less incidental traffic as they've been moved to the somewhat out-of-the-way Exhibit Hall. I felt bad for that situation.

Also, agreed with observations by @6.
