I long ago lost the capacity for listening to Republicans -- or Christians.

I'll read the live blog or YouTube Kaine, analysis Wed.

Like they say in cop/buddy dramas, "I'm too old for this shot."

I love the lord.

I LOOOVE the lord!

If lovin' the lord is wrong, I don't wanna be right!

He helped Joshua... fight the battle of Jericho.

He helped Daniel... get outta the lion's den.

He helped Gilligan... Get off the island!

What would have happened to Donald Trump if lawyers refused to defend people accused of terrible things?

Having competent council speak on your behalf is a sacred right. If there were no takers, a lawyer would have been appointed like it or not. Unlike having a respectable VP candidate speak on behalf of the likes of Donald Trump. You have to want it, to be a Trump apologist.

I'll be watching to see how Pence tries to spin Cheeto Benito as having "Christian values". It won't be easy, and Pence isn't that smart.

Fuck the Bible. Cite the Sixth Amendment:
"In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence.
Then say "I did my Constitutional duty as a member of the bar. As you damn well know, being a lawyer yourself."
7
@6: precisely. attacking Kaine for upholding the Constitution? no shame...
8
@6- Trump/Pence is not a vote for Constitutional government.
9
Pish tosh, does Pence profess all of the Abrahamic religions? No? Leaving some love of God on the table there.
10
Opinion: PBS does a bang-up job.
11
@10, I was talking about the debates, of course. Didn't see all that lawyerly talk up yonder.

That attack ad is really disgusting, but you know it's going to work on a substantial number of people.
12
I can't stand to look at attack ads anymore. All I can see or hear are the knuckledraggers out there shouting "YEAH!!!".

@5
Cheeto Benito! CHEETO BENITO!
You, sir or madame, win the intertubes today.
14
@13: Seconded. I know Max probably didn't coin that himself/herself, but I love it so much I don't care.

"Of course, Kaine will say that he is the bigger Christian here—the Bible says "thou shalt not kill," and Kaine himself has said that he is opposed to the death penalty because of his work as a missionary. "I think it’s outrageous that there is the death penalty," He said he opposed the death penalty because it was part of his Catholic teaching by Jesuits. Not because he was a missionary. There is a distinct difference. He also stated that beyond his personal beliefs, he upheld the laws of the state and denied clemency for those whose crimes that were heinous. By this journalistist's inaccurate opinion, he probably would have considered JFK and RFK Nazis for being being devout Catholics. Like it or not folks, people have faith in a God, they follow a religion of some sort and you better start getting used to it because they believe in something much larger than themselves and they are running the shows of politics, entertainment, agriculture, business and a lot more. They have faith in something more than their own little secullar belief that existence reloves around more than their own entitled pompous ass and that belief is probably what has kept this country going as long as it has to date. There are 1.3 billion self-identified Catholics alone in the world, 1.5 billion Jews and 1.5 billion Muslims, not inclusive of the Shinto. Shiks, Protestants, Baptists and the rest. Believe it or not God isnt just for when youre lying 6-feet down with dirt on your face or when the shit hits the fan of your personal little existence. Its an everyday belief that no matter how bad it gets, there is a purpose to it all. That people are basically good and that we should be thankful for the day we get today, because tomorrow we may not have that to share with our families, wives, husbands, partners, our friends. One final item of note to this journalist, start listening better and get some accuracy to your journalism unless you plan on working at The Stranger the rest of your life. By all accounts you're starting to sound like a Republican - and by todays standards - well - that is just embarrassing.
