Boca Raton is not going to experience hurricane force winds like further north in places like Palm Beach and Port St Lucie. Those communities are in danger of being flattened, like the towns along the Jersey shore.

BALDERDASH!

Your grandma seems like a pretty rad lady.

I hope she gets her hair touched up and doesn't have to BBQ the contents of her fridge with the neighbors. (Although she makes it sound fun.)
5
@4 beat me to it. Your grandma sounds like a badass.

My brother lives in Miami, and he removed everything in the yard that could blow about.

Including an out door cat, who hates the indoors, but will be complaining from the laundry room.

It's hella hot there, but if they lose electricity for days they won't be able to sleep outside by the pool like in the past, because Zika!

But they got through worse, and aren't particularly worried.

@6: Lucky cat!

So is Rich going to call more often?

Oh my brother an d his husband have taken in at least a half dozen stray cats over the years, thousands of dollars in vet bills later, five aged out to being buried under the backyard.

But the last guy has his own little igloo if it rains, but hurricanes warrant indoors which he hates

@9

Were/are they strays or ferals? It's a lot harder to get ferals to cooperate and come with you, but I guess if you build a good relationship with them they might. I'm glad they were all cared for.

Hey Granny; the Left wing media is saying that the hurricane is caused by your SUV.
Are any of your friends talking about that?

Hell No. We're old, not retarded. You know something? That’s bullshit.

(CNN) As Hurricane Matthew continues to churn through the Atlantic the focus must be on public safety.
People in the storm's path must seek refuge, as Florida's governor has implored. And those in the Caribbean likely will need assistance as they mourn their dead and clean up the wreckage.
But as the impact of the storm becomes clear, there's an uncomfortable truth the rest of us should wrestle with: Hurricane Matthew looks a lot like future climate change. And if we want to stop storms like this from getting even more intense, we need to do everything we can to rid the economy of fossil fuels.

you've been warned, people…

Climate Change is very real.
And as old as the planet.
Somehow Leftist BedWetters seem to think they discovered it.
And have been playing Chicken Little ever since.
The shrill shrieking is very grating.
It is time for the adults to start planning how to cope with Climate Change.
Instead of the hysterical finger pointing.

We could start by identifying areas at risk and stopping all Federal and other government subsidies for property insurance on real estate in the zone. It doesn't make sense to spend taxpayer dollars encouraging/facilitating construction in areas we know are going to flood.
Also we put a special Climate Change surtax on the property tax bills for these properties.
Start a trust fund to deal with future expenses.

Next we start a Carbon Footprint Miss Piggy Tax.
Tax celebrities and CEOs who fly all over the globe.
Also tax energy consumption for mansions and second/third/etc homes.

That might get us pointed in the right direction.

In fact, just a few elegant smart moves like these would see property in at-risk areas self deport to higher ground before long. Creating wide scenic buffers along our coasts.

@11 fuck you.

@13 fuck you.

@14 fuck you.

@15 fuck you.

Yesterday the Weather Channel had a model that predicted Matthew will turn around after heading out to sea, and hit Florida and Cuba again next week. So hope that model is wrong!
This is the second big hurricane in the last month that could cause untold devastation to the Gulf and Eastern seaboard! Nope, no climate change problem here. MORONS, and fucking dangerous ones, the denier idjits! Haiti needs to sue Big Oil, now that our Congress brain trust has opened the door with that beyond stupid JASTA bill!

Trump believes Climate Change is real, when it's affecting his golf courses.
