The last gasp of the Bernie Bros? There is hardly a better definition of white liberal privilege than a protest vote for the greenies.
2
@1 You mean, "there is hardly a better definition of white privilege than voting for Hillary, or Trump, or Johnson." At least Stein has a black guy as her VP, compared to the all-white ticket of the other parties.
3
@2 That's why all the people of color are supporting the Green Party. Not.
4
why are we making sure various race boxes are checked instead of asking how the Green Party is qualified to offer up a presidential candidate in the first place?
5
I don't vote for anti-vaxx, anti-WIFI lunatics, whose only political experience is town meeting member.
6
The Green Party has lots of cool policy ideas. If they could combine that with some kind of insight into how American politics work, they could get a lot of stuff done. But they seem content to make futile gestures and throw the occasional election to a Republican.

Oh well.

Due to pneumonia, [anti-vaxxer] Stein canceled her appearance at the rally.

I say this as someone that has had pneumonia multiple times, once in high school so badly that I would have died in another week if my parents had not insisted on taking me to see a doctor: Hahahaha!!
8
She's Tofu Palin.
10
@9 and the Dems totally did themselves a favor by rebooting the Clinton years doubling down on the shoot from the hip neoliberal economics that has done wonders for the rich.
12
Stein has pneumonia, too? I wish her a speedy recovery, and that's hilarious.

The android photographer known as Nate Gowdy needs to have his software updated to reflect what human flesh is supposed to look like. These shadows and crags don't add drama or emotion, just murk and blemish. It's like he runs these through some sort of auto-filter and calls it a day. Just ask yourself, would you want him to take a picture of YOU? Sure, he's been on the cover of TIME, but it's worth noting it was a color shot of Bernie from behind, and it still featured that blurry light the Gowdybot is "famous" for. I'll never stop believing he does these for free in return for your putting his name in the headline.

@12 I'm afraid they lost me in the era of Clinton I and I'm now welcoming those that got a belly full of "later kiddo" in 2008. The general response from pundits this cycle is good riddance to those that would vote dem but feel alienated. That message was clear long before I got hopeful about Sanders and I'm surprised by none of this. The base will maintain the same sclerotic core antediluvians until the party gets blow up or out as far as I'm concerned.

Did you hear Michael Moore's impassioned speech about why the working class is ready to go nuclear on Hillary? They won't win but the futher she drives us down the more and more people will look to clowns like Trump to blow it up.

@13 While this isn't my favorite Gowdy series, Nate's photography is fraught with both drama and emotion. Have you ever looked at his Instagram? The bold black and white, combined with his acute photographic instincts, make for some thought-provoking images.

Yeah, I would want Nate to take my picture. It may not make me look like a supermodel, but it sure would humanize me. We are all full of blemishes; that's what makes us human. The only thing about a Gowdy photo shoot is that I'll bet he is so inundated with clients that I wouldn't be able to get in.
16
BTW, the pic of Kshama, for everything you could say about her, is top notch.
17
@1: You are a Hillbot being paid to troll these threads? WikiLeaks has already proven you fucks actually exist ( and some say Jill was given that disease on purpose . . . . ---- http://littlesis.org & https://www.abovetopsecret.com & https://www.cia.gov ).
18
Bernie Sanders was a Judas Goat; no TRUE "Leftist" would EVER follow him after what he did to all his followers ( hint: Throw them under the Proverbial Bus! Pah! --- http://jampack.us/dnclawsuit & https://www.blackboxvoting.org & http://www.verifiedvoting.org ).
19
@17 What's your address? I'd love to buy you a tin foil hat.
20
@13, @15
I dunno, in some ways this seems like an hommage to W. Eugene Smith for the Photoshop era. I mean that in a good way.
21
Can we just call up the Photoshop people and have them add a "Nate Gowdy" filter so the entire world will overuse it until we all get sick of it and it falls out of style so we never have to see this fucking garbage again? God, it's shit. And no, that Kshama picture is not "top notch", it's terrible.
23
@21 What's wrong with the Kshama Photo? It's dramatic, well-composed, and evocative. I like that her finger is raised. You Nate Gowdy haters never go away, do you?
24
@23 I'll give you the composition, but dramatic and evocative it is not. The Nate Gowdy effect is that he's discovered a technique for over-processing his photos in a way that triggers your "dramatic and evocative" nerve whether the photos are dramatic and evocative or not. He could publish a photo of a drunk fratboy ordering a chalupa at taco bell at 2:15am that would evoke images of a civil rights march from the 60s. It doesn't seem to you that the supposed weight of all these photos is purely in the manipulation?
25
Not to mention, her finger is at least half the subject of the damn photo and it's blurry.
26
I will grant you, however, that he does have some great photos produced using this effect. If he used it sparingly and wasn't obviously trying to turn mundane photos into wannabe pulitzers, I'd probably not be so annoyed with it.
27
In a January 2015 essay, Baraka described the Republican march in Paris in reaction to the Charlie Hebdo shooting as a "white power march," and the Je suis Charlie movement in general as an "arrogant rallying cry for white supremacy".
28
Now I kind of want him to accept the challenge and take a dramatic and evocative picture of a drunk fratboy ordering a chalupa at taco bell. Come on, Nate!
29
A helpful thing I learned from this article -- that I definitely won't be voting for Kshama Sawant for another term in the city council. Switching her support from Bernie to Stein? Stupid.

Please wait...
