And here's the speech: FNC.

NBC did not have the full speech when I checked.

Congratulations Democrats, progressives, liberals, SJWs and triggered Millenials. Donald Trump has just saved you. No longer will you be shackled to the corpse of the Clinton Crime Family for the next 8 years. Now you are free to select a candidate who actually supports your agenda and cares about your values instead of someone who merely wishes to enrich herself financially by selling off America to her corporate cronies.

YOU'RE WELCOME!

Do we really owe the new president elect an open mind and a chance to lead?

Why can't the democrats simply do what the republicans did for the last 8 years? Stall. Do nothing. Pass nothing. Vote on nothing except to repeal anything and everything the republicans do. Smear the president. Smear the congress. Do everything possible to destroy everything.

It worked for the republicans. They did all of the above and now they control everything.

Why shouldn't the democrats now do exactly the same thing?
5
>> There was quiet sobbing, and open weeping, in the room.

Some at home, too. I got teary eyed just reading it.
6
Why? Because the Republicans won everything. They're now in control of the House, the Senate, and soon the Supreme Court. Democrats have nothing. Even if they wanted to, they have no power to small, do nothing, and pass nothing.
7
lol, #2. You think that your president elect is not corrupt? What has he paid in taxes? How many times has he claimed bankruptcy? How does he treat business partners and employees? How about his vice president who wanted to throw people like me into jail, just because we wanted a marriage license? And you are forgetting that we now have a red whitehouse, house, and senate as well as two supreme court positions (one open, the other not too far off). Are you forgetting that the Preemptive strike from Bush Jr and the financial collapse under capitalist banking system? So, thank you for the bigotry, hate, mismanagement, and corruption you and your friends have put into the white house and congress. We are forever in your debt.

@3 "Do we really owe the new president elect an open mind and a chance to lead?"

That's exactly the question to ask ourselves right now, and how we choose to answer it will be the direction the country takes.

So, do we want to take the obstructionist low road and continue the devolution of society, or do we want to try to turn things around? Do we embrace anti-intellectualism, or do we try to stop it? It's become very easy to be lazy and stupid. Do we want "easy", or is there something higher that we're aiming for in this life?

Hillary's speech and email to supporters:

Thank you.

Last night, I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans.

This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for, and I’m sorry we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country.

But I feel pride and gratitude for this wonderful campaign that we built together –- this vast, diverse, creative, unruly, energized campaign. You represent the best of America, and being your candidate has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

I know how disappointed you feel, because I feel it too. And so do tens of millions of Americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort. This is painful, and it will be for a long time. But I want you to remember this: Our campaign was never about one person or even one election. It was about the country we love -- and about building an America that’s hopeful, inclusive, and big-hearted.

We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought. But I still believe in America –- and I always will. And if you do, too, then we must accept this result -– and then look to the future.

Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.

Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power, and we don’t just respect that, we cherish it. It also enshrines other things –- the rule of law, the principle that we’re all equal in rights and dignity, and the freedom of worship and expression. We respect and cherish these things too -- and we must defend them.

And let me add: Our constitutional democracy demands our participation, not just every four years, but all the time. So let’s do all we can to keep advancing the causes and values we all hold dear: making our economy work for everyone, not just those at the top; protecting our country and protecting our planet; and breaking down all the barriers that hold anyone back from achieving their dreams.

We’ve spent a year and a half bringing together millions of people from every corner of our country to say with one voice that we believe that the American Dream is big enough for everyone -- for people of all races and religions, for men and women, for immigrants, for LGBT people, and people with disabilities.

Our responsibility as citizens is to keep doing our part to build that better, stronger, fairer America we seek. And I know you will.

I am so grateful to stand with all of you.

I want to thank Tim Kaine and Anne Holton for being our partners on this journey. It gives me great hope and comfort to know that Tim will remain on the front-lines of our democracy, representing Virginia in the Senate.

To Barack and Michelle Obama: Our country owes you an enormous debt of gratitude for your graceful, determined leadership, and so do I.

To Bill, Chelsea, Marc, Charlotte, Aidan, our brothers, and our entire family, my love for you means more than I can ever express.

You crisscrossed this country on my behalf and lifted me up when I needed it most –- even four-month old Aidan traveling with his mom.

I will always be grateful to the creative, talented, dedicated men and women at our headquarters in Brooklyn and across our country who poured their hearts into this campaign. For you veterans, this was a campaign after a campaign -- for some of you, this was your first campaign ever. I want each of you to know that you were the best campaign anyone has had.

To all the volunteers, community leaders, activists, and union organizers who knocked on doors, talked to neighbors, posted on Facebook - even in secret or in private: Thank you.

To everyone who sent in contributions as small as $5 and kept us going, thank you.

And to all the young people in particular, I want you to hear this. I’ve spent my entire adult life fighting for what I believe in. I’ve had successes and I’ve had setbacks -– sometimes really painful ones. Many of you are at the beginning of your careers. You will have successes and setbacks, too.

This loss hurts. But please, please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it. It’s always worth it. And we need you keep up these fights now and for the rest of your lives.

To all the women, and especially the young women, who put their faith in this campaign and in me, I want you to know that nothing has made me prouder than to be your champion.

I know that we still have not shattered that highest glass ceiling. But some day someone will -– hopefully sooner than we might think right now.

And to all the little girls watching right now, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world.

Finally, I am grateful to our country for all it has given me.

I count my blessings every day that I am an American. And I still believe, as deeply as I ever have, that if we stand together and work together, with respect for our differences, strength in our convictions, and love for this nation -– our best days are still ahead of us.

You know I believe we are stronger together and will go forward together. And you should never be sorry that you fought for that.

Scripture tells us: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season, we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.”

My friends, let us have faith in each other. Let us not grow weary. Let us not lose heart. For there are more seasons to come and there is more work to do.

I am incredibly honored and grateful to have had this chance to represent all of you in this consequential election. May God bless you and god bless the United States of America.

Hillary

@8
do we want to take the obstructionist low road and continue the devolution of society
That's just my point though. Democrats take the high road, the unobstructionist road, the intellectual road.... and we got our asses handed to us.

This country doesn't want complex and philosophical. It wants to be enraged and hate-filled. After all, that's what the republicans did and the country voted them in to the executive branch, the legislative branch, and soon to be, the judicial branch.

If you can't beat em, join em, right? Shouldn't the democrats emulate what the republicans did? They won with it. Why not copy it?
11
Clinton was nearly successful in giving us McCain in 2008. Thank God she came back in 2016 to finish the job. She can go fuck off now.
12
@3 and 10: At 2 o'clock this morning, this is just what I wrote to Pramila Jayapal, that I will measure her success solely by asking this question: "Did Pramila Jayapal do everything in her power to oppose Donald Trump?" I'm sick to death of Democrats Reaching Across the Aisle® and trying to compromise with Republicans. Republicans are disciplined bastards who will NEVER give an inch or respect anyone who does. They will never play nicely with Democrats.
13
@ 10 - I know, but I think that's a knee-jerk reaction based on emotion. It would be satisfying, right? But what lesson, exactly, would it teach anyone? That's everyone's a jerk? That both sides are petty? That issues don't really matter?

A knee-jerk reaction might lead in the same direction as a more reasoned response, but at least with a reasoned response you'll have some guiding vision of where you want to go so you won't get derailed by irrelevant side issues and turn into an unprincipled asshole.

I don't know the best way through this but I think there is a "best way through this". We just have to figure out what we want that to be.
14
Good speech. Too bad she lacked the temprament to give it last night.
15
@8, after the harm the republicans have done to this country during the Bush 8, and the lack of cooperation with our 8 year ELECTED president, then NO I do not think we should cooperate with the Nazis.
16
@10, Bingo! Well said.
17
@11, Don't blame Hillary for the bigots in this country. All the crap being said about her corruption is simply gossip. And as far as the fucking servers are concerned, she did not hand them over to the enemy or even the public. THE FBI DID THAT!
18
Dear Democrats....
Keep making fun of 'fly-over' states.
Keep mocking good people of faith
Keep treating white people as inherent racists
Keep being skeptical of the wealth created by raw effort and risk
Keep mocking tradition, families, norms
Keep posing as our intellectual superiors
Keep at it.

You had (allegedly) the most technically qualified candidate for President EVER, only to lose to (inarguably) the worst candidate in generations.

This wasn't a vote of Trump.
This was a vote against your smug, righteous, effete urbanism and social judgementalism.
And you got your ASSES handed to you.

Enjoy all four years.
And then do it again.
And we will keep kicking your ass

19
@18: How does it feel to try to spin a popular vote loss as handing someone their ass?
20
The Republicans and their candidate successfully and dishonestly deflected the blame for the condition of the country from themselves to outside corruptions during the entire campaign. They're the ones who lied us into two wars in the Middle East, the ones who broke the economy, the ones who ignored all the intelligence community's warnings and left us open to terrorist attacks, and yet the knee-jerk right-wing not only returned them to the White House in 2004 but have now elected another one of their own to take over the government, in the mistaken belief that life will improve for them. It won't. The Republicans are now and have always been for exactly who they wish to benefit from government - themselves, individually. And four years from now, they'll re-elect Cheator and Milk-White, who's the actual brains of the operation, no matter what dire shape they've ground the country into. Don't kid yourselves -- those voters have never been willing to connect the dots between Republican governance and massive economic inequality, and four years of this newly elected shit-show isn't going to teach them a damn thing. Or, to put it another way, they've never seen a con man they couldn't fall for.
21
@18,
Are you suggesting that Trump voters voted because they don't want to be mocked? Or did they vote because the democrats don't share their values and beliefs?

If it's the former, that's something that could be fixed. If it's the latter, well, there's always going to be disagreements, that's why we have elections and debates in the first place.
22
@19 Please feel free to cling to your romantic attraction for the national popular vote. We are a constitutional republic not a direct democracy. Have been for 239 years. The primary mechanism of governance is the individual states, not the federal level. This is not new news to people that aren't fucking sleep walking and daydreaming. Wake up.

You can bleat on (and you will) about the antiquity of the electoral college, but it is merely a mechanism (like the bicameral legislature, separation of powers, filibuster, super majority, etc) to keep ambitious state fascists, as yourself, at bay.

The ass-whopping is this: She lost to

Donald.
Fucking.
Trump.

How fucking miserable a person and loathsome a candidate must you be to essentially tied in the popular turnout by...

Donald.
Fucking.
Trump.
?

23
@22: "Please feel free to cling to your romantic attraction for the national popular vote."
What can I say, popular sovereignty makes me hot.

"How fucking miserable a person and loathsome a candidate must you be to essentially tied in the popular turnout by...[Orange Man]"
You're saying that a guy who tells ignorant people things they want to hear will win almost as many votes as a politician who's been vilified for decades by half the political establishment? SHOCKER.
News flash, roughly half the American populace also thinks that evolution isn't real. If you go looking for value judgments in the wisdom of the masses, you'll end up listening to a lot of pop music.
24
So Trump only appealed to sexist, ignorant men, huh? Well, you can believe your delusional party rhetoric, or you can look at data: 2016 White Women College Graduates: Clinton 51%, Trump 45%

And – irony of fucking ironies – what you fail to realize is that the ignorance of the masses, the target of your derision, was one of the justifications for the electoral college you profess to dislike. Did they not teach that in Chicago public schools, or were you all too busy shooting-up the ghetto?

Please wait...
