And yet he DIDNT sign a he heartbeat bill. Can we not gloss over that? As pointed out, there's a much bigger impact to women to ban abortion at 6 weeks and not 20 because late term abortions are so rare.

@2: he didn't sign the stupid six week bill because he thinks he's fooling us into believing that he's not really terrible. Oh look, he only signed the less terrible bill, not the really terrible bill, so he must be a great guy, right? And moderate to boot. Nope. He can't fool all of the people all of the time.

I really thought he'd veto it. My unanticipated and increasing naiveté on anti-abortion forces is depressing.

@3 Let's harp and whine about every incremental victory/averted disaster. The truth is most Americans support abortion to some degree. They just get squeamish when the baby really starts to look like a baby. I support choice, but, ick. Who wants to own up to killing babies?

The six-week ban wouldn't have been constitutional, anyway.

This is the pendulum swinging far to one side, after it had swung far to the other side. During Obama's presidency, a lot of great things moved in a positive direction (e.g., LGBT rights, equal pay for women, less war on drugs, etc.). That freaked out the mundanes, and now they're so scared shitless they're screeching for a return to "better times" that never actually existed except in their fantasies.

So the pendulum is going to swing hard back in the other direction, as we're seeing it do now. It'll swing back again.

Not to say this doesn't suck right now, but it's always darkest before the dawn.

Some tests for fetal abnormalities can't be done until 20 weeks -- or later.

So the determination of threats to the woman's life or health can't be determined until after the ban.

Dead fetus = dead woman.
