The next two years will be spent learning how to use the complicated rules of the House to be an effective representative. She should try to get help from Jim McDermott and more experienced Democrats in the caucus.

@2 excellent shitpost 10/10

Thank the FSM for people like her who have the courage to stand up and try to protect us from the venal, hate-crazed, sadistic, psychopathic RepubliKKKan party.

Excellent start to a new term!

Keep fighting for America, Pramila!

I think that Jayapal was out of order. She was yet another glaring mistake in the elections. However, I condemn Ryan's arrogance of laughing. Show some professional respect asshole. I keep wondering why he didn't back away from Trump during the election campaign as all his colleagues did. It makes me think maybe there were Americans involved, or privy to, the covert Russian hack from the beginning.

@6,

I disagree. The most effective strategy we have is to discredit the Trump administration at every opportunity. We must, before he even takes office, build the impression that his reign is illegitimate.

Jayapal did just that. So did the Jill Stein recount effort.

Bg things are made up of millions of tiny things. These efforts may seem insignificant by themselves, but they do add up over time.

Seriously Democrats are in the minority and cant expect any cordial collegial work together across the aisle line the republicans have been refusing to participate in and should not waste time trying to suck up to Republicans for a few crumbs possibly thrown their way but never passed. Dems can and should only throw bombs to delay the exceedingly bad legislation and expose the true actions and costs to taxpayers and people of the proposals of the republicans. The delay allows the public an opportunity to voice protest and perhaps delay / decrease the harm being proposed. Anyone not lobbing bombs is being complicit is what is being passed and destroyed in the process of ramrodding and cramming through major sweeping legislation un-doing all legislative progress since the new deal and civil rights eras of america as well as undoing years of expectations of ethics, good government and 200 years of the elected officials working on behalf of the people not despite them.

Rock on, Pramila Jayapal!

@7
No, they both just looked foolish and discredited themselves. It does less to discredit the administration and more to paint this opposition party as loons. She (Jayapal) was on KIRO talking about how she's going to be optimistic and work with this administration as best they can to shape the agenda. This isn't it. She drew a short straw and is being made fun of for this ridiculous posturing that was so bad not even Uncle Joe had time for that shit.

Not only did she effectively and publicly show that liberal feminism cant come together (as not even her home state Senators Patty Murray nor Maria Cantwell would sign her opposition to Trump), but she quite efficiently made the State of Washington and its liberal approach to "hope" and "progress" look foolish. Welcome to the real world of politics Ms. Jayapal and welcome to the real world, voting constituency of the United States. If your representatives cant back each other up, what makes anyone think they will back up the voter! Well at least those "democracy vouchers" will wine and dine someone! Except mine - mine are being used as packing material.

Nice spin.

Every other media outlet is reporting that she just didn't know the Rules.

Makes the whole state look stupid.

Please wait...
