The sun rises, but darkness is descending. Erika Hoel

That headline was from the Onion was funny in a ha-ha way when it first appeared during the George W. Bush presidency, but it quickly went from satire to reality during his reign. Anyone who is feeling nostalgic for W today (I've heard a few people say things like: "He understood politics; he was a man of principles; he was a decent person,") should take a time machine back to 9/11, the Iraq War, the so-called hidden arsenal of nuclear weapons, the attack on science and the environment, the attacks on the LGBTQ community, which culminated in W and Cheney's greatest masterpiece, the Great Recession.

What is about to happen is not OK. The progress made by Obama (and while it wasn't as much as we would have liked) will be undone much more swiftly. Our only hope is that this administration is so incompetent, they can't get anything done.

In less than an hour, it begins.

Of thousands and thousands of people at the Presidential Inauguration, she is the silent protestor with the closest proximity to the stage.
