It's not f###ing normal.
3
I wonder if things will reach a point there the mainstream WH press corps decides to boycott a daily briefing en masse and just not report on anything Lying Spice says for, say, a day.
4
Why would news orgs care about listening to the verbal and mental diarrhea that erupts from Tantrum Spice in the Wrong House?

The more that shrill, disgusting, sleazeball President Rapist squeals, the more we know that journalists are on the right track digging into his corruption and ties to Russia. The truth is probably even more insane than we've speculated.

19 months to midterm elections.

Please write to your legislators and let them know that 1) you are a registered voter in their district, and 2) that you value a free press, and the right to protest. Let them know that your vote on their future jobs depends on their actions.
6
I can't determine whether these news orgs were bared from just one event, or for WH press briefings going forward?

Also in Arizona - The Arizona Senate has approved a bill requiring doctors to use "all available means and medical skills" to try to save the life of every baby born — whether the child is born alive during an abortion, unexpectedly arrives months early or is delivered with a fatal defect and expected to live only minutes.

Not surprising with this turd-sandwich of an admin.

I will point out that the Obama admin tried to do the same thing. Unlike the Trump admin though, they did not follow through. This is a kind of "informal" press briefing called a "gaggle" (for some reason). Obama's press secretary (I forget who) tried to block media like Fox to a gaggle but howls of protest from NYT, CNN and other media who were invited convinced them to back off.

Repeating what Spicer or the White House says is not journalism, reporting or news. There should just be 24/7 on the ground news of what is actually happening, how people are responding, what people can do, investigation into policy impacts, etc. Do not publish anything from the White House or any press releases since they are likely full of lies and inflammatory garbage and adds nothing to knowledge.

@9:

Strange, I can't find any language in the First Amendment specifying a "pay to play" system for petitioning the government for redress of grievances.

I looked at the first five minutes of Trump's CPAC speech earlier and it is truly a stunning portrait of a man falling apart. It was an incoherent, furious, unhinged attack on everybody who wasn't one of the nationalist buffoons who were the audience, and they loved it. At one point he quietly said "You see very few good stories about me" and looked like he was about to break up. And then I remembered what his first wife, Ivanka, had said about him in an interview last year; that he cries when he doesn't get his way. And this guy is not getting his way bigly and is coming part. I can only imagine the temper tantrums that will go along with it.
13
Ivana. Freudian slip.

Arizona sounds like a place to avoid.
This is getting hotter by the minute. The WH asking FBI to can the Russian ties investigation and trump tweeting about it, shows his collusion. He, the President of the USA is not defending the constitution, and his bumboy Bannon has outlined their intent.
Not normal it all may be, It's what is happening. Let's hope the FBI stay the course and give over all they know asap. Ring your reps. This bull about expelling journalists from some papers is intolerable.
16
@6: I was wondering about that too. I'm at work, so I can't spend the time to try to dig around for the answer to that.

I also wonder if there will be marches over this weekend, demanding an immediate end to this behavior. If so, I'll be there.
18
@17, and that is already illegal. Arizona is trying to intimidate peaceful protests by threatening to take property EVEN BEFORE DAMAGE IS DONE. Just like the bathroom bills, they already have laws in place to handle illegal activity. They are trying to suppress protests.
19
@17: only if it's a mob doing it. by the way, vehicles feel no pain when violence is done to them. they're NOT ALIVE.

what a fucking snowflake.
20
Not sure with the new-ish Google search rules, but might have some results by repeated searching for: trump dementia
24
Obama pulled this stunt as well in 2009, only with Fox News, but he didn't get away with it.
25
Good. Now they'll have more resources to devote to investigative journalism.
26
They even bounced the BBC, FFS. It's time to start re-reading Shirer's "Berlin Diary."
28
#12 I think the same thing. He will come apart and the admin. (rep) will say he had a heart attack and then Pence will take over, maybe he won't be as abrasive. He's definitely better suited to being Pres. than #45.
29
Way to go Arizona. 'Bout time you showed them damn college kids who's boss. No more of this:

@24 There's quite a difference between the NY Times and Faux News, as there's a world of difference between Obama's Administration and the Gropenführer's, would you not agree?

Ugh, we went away to land of no TV and internet for several days to get away from this horrifying shit fest. Then we had to come back and my heartburn and nausea have returned after just one day! These creatures are shortening all our lifespans! Welcome to GOPCare; this is how they plan to deal with Climargeddon - kill off everyone except 1 percenters - then there will be enough food and water for them, after the ocean becomes a wasteland!
31
Can we hear again from the Stein voters? Tell us how lucky we are not to have 'war monger' Hillary in the Oval Office.

And tell us again how major party candidates are all just exactly alike. No difference at all....
32
@30: "Gropenführer"? Love it!
33
@30: Both are news organization that differ only by their editorial dispositions. So no, there is no real difference in these cases of WH overreach.
34
@33: fox is explicitly partisan in almost all they do, however.
Sidebar: has everyone forgotten who Ken Mehlman is? Not the person, the commenter? COMTE, you of all people should recall that he's being either satirical or trollish.
35
I say satirical, because he frequently tips his hand when people seem not to get it, as a way of reminding.
36
Wheeee!

@34 - Not everyone... ;>)

@12 - Let's hope his full-on breakdown's happen in public.

@30 - Try meditation perhaps? You don't have to personally internalize the news and Trumpian BS...

@23 - You fell for it!

@18 - It's almost as if these legislators... don't want any opposition at all. Hm. Well, as someone smart recently said, critical gains for freedom have been obtained under much harsher conditions than what we are currently facing. It might get worse, but that will only consolidate our resolve. Also, broad persecution tends to unite people.

"They tried to bury us, but they didn't realize we were seeds..."

37
@7, et. al. -- Looks like the Arizona House Speaker denied the "Plan a protest, Lose your house" bill a hearing, effectively killing it.

Please wait...
