In 2008 I frequently wore a John McCain hat (I voted Obama). While I never got punched in the face repeatedly, it was fun/depressing seeing how quickly people would make assumptions about you based on a baseball cap. it turns out that judging people on first appearances cuts all the way across the political spectrum.
@4 Sometimes I like to walk around dressed as a Nazi. For some reason some *weirdos* out there think I'm sympathetic to Nazi beliefs, and even go so far as to say rude things to me! I can't believe people just instantly judge me, just because I'm dressed up like some of the worst people in history! People these days. So quick to jump to conclusions. So judgy. /sarcasm
If the letter writer is here, I'm curious whether your friend is a pure altruist on this effort, or if he also has a general tendency to enjoy pissing people off.
The Orange A$$hole's supporters would vote for Adolf Hitler if he had a (R) after his name. They are sadistic and psychotic, and they cannot be reasoned with.
@2, they are all quite quiet this time around. The Nazi's were bad but for all you lefties remember that the Communists are bad to. And Stalin had a bigger kill rate than Hitler.
There is no normalizing trump turnips. These are people who believe civil rights can be voted down or legislated down. These are rubes who want to foist their phoney-baloney religion on everyone. There is no common ground to meet them on as they have no fundamental understanding of the US government at all. They wanted a fuehrer, they got one. Every sane human alive wants cheeto dead. No common ground. That was this doofus' stupid error and he got his karma in full.
This is a worse stunt to get a girlfriend than that guy who didn't talk for a year in 2005 to raise awareness of the Iraq War. Yeah, I'm talking about you, jackass! I saw you cornering my lady friends with your pencil and paper tablet at house parties. Pack up your props and scram, hippie!
That's some Milo shit. Do/say something inflammatory, people get mad, and then claim it's just to create dialogue. What a tool. Sometimes getting punched builds character.
Yeah, the whole "Not all Trump voters are racist bigots" line is played out. They may not necessarily be racist bigots, but they're oddly tolerant and accepting of overt displays of racist bigotry. Seems like a ridiculously fine line to try and draw.
Wait----the friend in the Trump (BOO!) hat had actually voted for Hillary (YAY!), but donned a Trump hat which he wore to an anti-Trump rally? Was he deliberately looking to get punched? Why? Is he into punishment and / or was this to make a point, akin to the once-healthy dude who fucked up his system to reveal the ugly truth about fast food diets in Supersize Me--like maybe, hopefully!---wake some people up?
Where can I get a Make America Reasonable Again hat? I want one and would wear it proudly, not having to say anything.
I guess Geraldo Riviera got his nose broken by a flying chair on national television "to make a point", too. Andy, listen to Leiliani: dump the Trump hat and work on Making America Reasonable Again, instead of trying to fire up the crowd.
What they see as reasonableness is just white people debating the finer points of privilege.
He was practically begging for it.

J/k I finished it and it reads like a Yelp! review of friendship drama ("if I could give Andy half a star I would!").

No sympathy here.
