Cue City Hall staff grasping to keep their jobs - which they thought were a lock for upcoming 5 years - hitting "Murray" on rapid repeat button pushing.
2
No love for Andres, I guess.
3
@2 - He dropped out. No love for keeping up with the news?
4
Ralph Nader won my high school's mock presidential election in 2000. As we all remember, he then went on to win the presidency of the United States, a position he held for 8 years.
5
Nikkita Oliver and Mike McGinn split the left. The top 2 primary spots go to faux-left nimby car-pitalist Ed Murray and an as-yet unnamed far right psychopath with a marketable libertarian facade and some nice optics. Sex allegations, even if unfounded, combine with progressive sour grapes, to tank Murray's campaign and fascism comes to Seattle.

You heard it here first.
6
Can't we get Molly Moon into this race?

What do we want? Salted lavender-pomegranite ice cream! How we gonna pay for it? Voter-approved excess levies!
7
Top two primary should end up with Cary Moon and Mike McGinn winning
8
#6 Hilarious! Thank you
9
1600+ votes for Oliver.

Some scientific poll you got there.
10
@5: A far right psychopath with a marketable libertarian facade and some nice optics sounds delightfully refreshing compared to the menagerie of far left empathics with unprofitable humanitarian facades, but nice optics, that this city has been enduring for decades.
11
Setting aside the overeager clickers for Oliver this highly unscientific poll does point to one reasonable assumption: Murray's likelihood of making it out of a primary is faint. Very faint.
12
@5 I'll bet you $10,000 and a steak dinner that doesn't happen.
13
My guess is someone has been clicking refresh for Nikki all afternoon. I like Slog and all but I doubt the traffic of unique visitors. Click early and often.
14
O yeah... surely only Nikkita fans would vote more than once, being so unserious and undisciplined.. never mind that the percentages have stayed roughly the same over the last 2000 votes. Completely a mirage..
15
Jason Roberts!
Why isn't his name on the list?http://www.roberts4mayor2017.com/
16
There needs to be another option for "other". There may be a major voting block that won't vote for any of these names.
17
Let's say Nikkita Oliver's voted twice as the gentlemen above. That's still 1,700 votes. More than any of them+ she won the debate tonight!!

Nikkita Oliver for Mayor
18
Oliver lists her law degree as a qualification but said “Law school made me realize that I actually do not want to be a lawyer.” Pick one, if she can tear herself away from her cell phone long enough to consider it.
19
How come Casey Carlisle isn't listed?

20
@17 how exactly did she win last night? Sure - she sounds passionate. But she offers no concrete solutions. Advocating for reinstating the neighborhood groups? Come on - they were eliminated because they were overwhelmingly white and old.

Saying that HALA was successful because of grassroots efforts of citizens (then saying no - she didn't support it)? Please. Getting to the agreement in HALA was successful because of negotiations and tradeoffs with developers. And a shit ton of research on how the city should be developed for future generations. Not because neighborhood groups had anything to do with it.

Advocating that the city use their bond capacity to build affordable housing? That's a tired argument that even Sawant backed off of when she realized that someone would have to pay that back later - and it wouldn't be from the tenants of those units.

I give her props for being a passionate speaker. But she reminds me too much of Bernie - without the chops to understand how government actually works or to run a 10,000+ person organization. She's great at pandering to her base but shows limited understanding of the real issues at hand or viable solutions to our city's problems and opportunities.

Why isn't Jason Roberts listed in the poll?

Murray didn't "double down" on running. your editorial staff uses that phrase way too much and apparently does not know what it means. The Stranger seems to think that anyone who disagrees with its editorial opinion, and has the gall to continue disagreeing even after the Stranger has clearly and patiently explained that its opinion is the obvious and only correct opinion, is therefore "doubling down." WRONG. Murray not stepping down or dropping out of the race because the Stranger seems to think that he should is not "doubling down" on running for Mayor--it is simply running for Mayor
23
Nikkita is also dominating troll discourse. Another positive indicator...
24
Another. Fucking. Poll. Have you learned anything?
25
@20 Nikkita / Bernie comparison is a good one. She says the damnedest things, and her idealist take on reality means promises that are going to be impossible to deliver, but who else on the list. Learn on the job. Someone whose character I respect, at least, which I can say for none of the rest.
26
@25 I still respect the character and integrity of our current Mayor. Like him or not, he's been very effective in a number of key areas that have and will positively impact our city.

And, while learning on the job may be appropriate in some careers, it's not really a good methodology when it comes to running a government entity. Look at the clown show in D.C. for a good current example.
27
No way Oliver. She couldn't be bothered to make sure she got a ballot for 20 out of 24 elections. She's a blamed and complainer. Not a doer. We don't need more of that - we have a city council full of that

Please wait...
