In last night's episode of Last Week Tonight, beloved Brit John Oliver took on Sinclair Broadcast Group, one of the largest TV broadcast companies in the country, for forcing its stations to run right-wing messaging, called "must-runs," during their newscasts. Oliver even gave a shoutout to Seattle's KOMO TV, which has been engaging in "clever acts of rebellion" by airing Sinclair's must-runs when few people are awake.

Back in March, KOMO ran a bizarre segment featuring Sinclair Vice President of News Scott Livingston who decried "fake news." The union representing KOMO's video editors and photographers vowed to fight back against their parent company's "biased" management, Crosscut's David Kroman reported at the time.

Sinclair also purchased Tribune Media for $3.9 billion in May. Tribune's network includes Seattle's Q13 FOX, which broadcasts Seahawks football games, The News Tribune reported.

Some news outlets also allege that Sinclair officials collaborated with Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. For more details about the crazy shit Sinclair's forced its stations to run, watch Oliver, above.
