Why do we refer to the US Chamber of Commerce as "the Chamber." It's not a chamber of government. It's a lobbying group. It shouldn't be referred to as "the Chamber" but as "the lobbyists" at best, although "CoC" is vastly preferable as proper shorthand.
I kinda like that itās referred to as āthe Chamberā. It preserves the sinister connotations associated with ātorture chamberā, āgas chamberā and āchamber of horrorsā. Why whitewash an evil cabal with an innocuous acronym?
