Ice cream, preferably high-test, is my tension-relaxant of choice, but to each their own. That said, there's a video of Arnold Schwarzenegger this morning that's a must watch:
@3 Just to clarify, that's a 3-minute video of Schwarzenegger denouncing Trump, Nazis, neoConfederates and white nationalists, and instructing Trump what he SHOULD have said. He actually brought tears of gratitude to my eyes.
@4 Easy-peasy. A nazi is anyone who openly espouses nazi philosophy, marches under a nazi banner while chanting nazi slogans, or voluntarily alongside such people, or attacks those who object to nazis marching through their streets. Trump is giving them, their threats, and their violence, cover, and apparently intentionally so.
I missed the "Marie Antoinette -- let them eat cake" reference until someone pointed it out. So, Fey's REAL message is "People who ignore the white supremacists will lose a lot, maybe even their heads, because the issues will not just go away -- we have to do something." That's a message I support. I just wish I'd been quick enough to get it.
@4 So calling people who are known racists and nazi sympathizers 'known racists and nazi sympathizers' is not allowed?
Until a few months ago the people who were called 'homophobes and bigots' tended only to have the guts openly to show their homophobia and 'socially acceptable' bigotry (say, anti-gay marriage, anti affirmative action). Many of us thought that was bad enough. I may have though there were a lot of homophobic morons about, but I didn't actually think they harbored white supremacist opinions under it all. Under the vagclamper-in-chief, they now feel able to espouse openly previously 'socially unacceptable' racism and nazi sympathy. So we call it what it is. What is so difficult to understand?
And why would you feel the need to jump to the defense of such people? Are you a sympathiser yourself, or are thinking it's still ok to play pat-a-cake with facists when they are IN THE FUCKING WHITE HOUSE?
Following on from which (@17), much as I love Tina Fey, and much as the skit is really good, I don't agree at the end of the day. The display in Boston Saturday of thousands upon thousands of peaceful protestors opposing a handful of moronic fascists was much more powerful than staying home. There is a time to ignore fascists, I agree. Turning up to oppose a handful of socially-disabled, educationally challenged teenage boys is not something usually worth taking the time to do. But the FASCISTS ARE IN THE WHITE HOUSE. Yeah, I think the time to ignore them is done.
@16 I think you're imagining a reference where there is none, and that's definitely not what Tina Fey was saying.
Bonus historical fact. Marie Antoinette actually said "let them eat brioche".
Bonus bonus historical fact. Marie Antionette didn't actually say that either. Some dude made the story up and it appears in print when Marie Antoinette was only 9 years old.
Bonus bonus bonus historical fact. Historical facts always spoil good stories, and aren't funny.
Go get yourself a nice pie.

God, I need a cigarette.
Also, slice crouton pieces of the cake without the icing, drizzle with clarified butter, and slow bake at 250 for 45 minutes. Serve over ice cream.
