Restorative Process?

It's a joke.

We're Fremont. Get used to absurdity. It's who we are.
2
Good stuff.

If you don't like it, buy it.

Keep in mind that the innumerable concern trolls we have in this town, who I assume you are addressing here, are among the dippiest dips in the history of dippyness. Maybe start out with a careful definition of 'irony'. Probably do no good whatsoever though.

Besides, most of the artists involved are at Burning Man right now ...
5
Oh, come on. Do Fremont collectivists wear their Che Guevara shirts ironically, too? They're all secretly pining for the Revolution anyway.
6
@5 When were you in Fremont last? Some time in the 70's I'm guessing?
7
But what about the irony and humor?

Very thoughtful and insightful article.

Seattle Times crew publish time-to-time that Lenin's statue must be removed because Jews were prosecuted under Lenin's rule. But I can't remember when it was. Lenin came to the power in 1917 and he died in 1924. During this time, there was civilian war in the Soviet Union and also Polish-Soviet war. So-called 'pogroms' were in Poland and modern Ukraine. How exactly does Lenin relate to the Russian Jews, the Seattle Times has never mentioned.

Insightful view.
Nearly all public statues are of men who made some significant "contribution" to history. It almost always means many people died. Show me a statue and I'll show you a body count. Lenin isn't worse than Columbus or many of America's heroes. History is a horror book.
I'm skipping the Burn (largely irrelevant for over a decade) to work on plans with my revolutionary cell.

Lenin presided over the Red Terror and was responsible for mass killings and the deaths of several hundred thousand non-combatants. Irony has limits. Mass murder is one of those limits. Not taking it down actually plays into the hands of the alt-right who are trying to brand leftists as terrorists. A simple and gracious acknowledgment that the statue is in very bad taste and that we're taking it down, not because Steve Bannon wants us to, but because we want to, would absolutely neutralize that alt-right bullshit. And to make it perfectly clear we could erect an anti-white-supremacy monument in its place.

Please wait...
