Let me fix that headline: "Cary Moon pitches new idea to get votes".

I mean, sure, protections for freelancers are kinda ok. But how many freelancers do all their freelancing with entities incorporated in Seattle city limits? What's that, maybe 5% of current freelancer income?

Great news if you are in a band or a consultant. Or in a band of consultants or perhaps a band consultant. Any which way Cary is standing up for those who sometimes get stepped on. Vote Moon.

#2 is "band consultant" a thing?

Back when I worked a regular job I learned that your employer can just not pay you and if you cant afford an attorney there is pretty much Fuck all you can do about it. Sure you can go to the state and show them your timecards and tell them you haven't been paid. The company will claim that you have been paid and when the state asks for proof they will drag it out for a couple months before they say they cant find it. Then you get to file in small claims if you ever want to get paid.

Last time I checked Seattle isn't a city-state; can't state and federal rules apply? Oh that's right, then we wouldn't need a job for our friends at city hall, enforcing rules no one asked for.

Please wait...
