Wait, Stranger reporters are now delivering advertisements?

Totally disrespectful to the coffee bean. Espresso is serious and important business, people.
4
Wow. does Rich Smith get free coffee from them?

Just when I thought the advertising as news couldn't get any worse at The Stranger....this.

So the new bi-weekly rag you're putting out: I assume it's just going to be shit like this?
6
Uh. Who signed off on this bullshit?
7
I don't understand. The possibility of running into one's ex there is a selling point?

Not really getting the outrage here. I thought it was a pretty funny & irreverent video that Rich also found funny and so shared. I certainly wouldn't have found it (the video) otherwise and so appreciated his doing so. I don't think it was some nefarious sponsored nonsense. He gives the place a little plug as a nice place to drink coffee and read comics, but Stranger/Slog does this often, either in formal reviews or just by way of off-hand blog posts about places they frequent. The whole Three Block Radius (or however many it was) series does/did so on the regular didn't it? Maybe I'm just hopelessly naive.

And I guess I can sort of see a distinction in that most slog posts wouldn't have an embedded video that was put together by a business interest (even if wasn't a traditional commercial advertisement.) Maybe that does cross a line, though again, I feel like he just thought it was pretty funny/clever. My $.02 out.

@8 - NO. SLOG IS SERIOUS BUSINESS. ALL MY NEWS IS HERE! NOTHING ELSE!
But for real—the vid didn't work for me but the Stranger was always been irreverent. Remeber when they axed Line Out and people lost their shit that there was music coverage here? Relax people, I know your typing rage has to go somewhere, just keep scrolling... you'll find a story on which to heap your abuse.

@8 - It literally said "ADVERTISEMENT" in a greyscale font beneath the post. Did you miss that? Understandable, it was pretty low-key...

@13 lol wut?

Please wait...
