This ruling would seem to have wider implications, which I think are actually good. For example, the same argument against unreasonable searches could now be made for campers in State parks, or refugees living in temporary shelters after a natural disaster. Just because someone is occupying a structure that doesn't meet the traditional definition of a "home", doesn't mean they suddenly give up their right to privacy.
We need humanitarian approaches for unsheltered people. Stop criminalizing poor people for one and using a proven method to house people such as the Housing First program for two.
Not one more death or one more case of police brutality against an unsheltered person.
The causes of homelessness include economic disaster, abuse and a society that places money before the dignity of the person. Begin by stopping the cruel and abusive sweeps and treating people with respect.
