It's obvious you hate me
Though I've done nothing wrong
I never even met you
So what could I have done?

In which we learn that Charles' interpretation of the words "economic theory" is apparently "equations."

There is quite a lot of economic theory in Capital. Perhaps it is in the interest of the Marxist to pretend that none of this is theory, that it is all simply unbiased description of the world as it is, and as it will be. Not yet, of course, but some day. Some day!

When I first heard of the attacks in Niger I immediately thought of Chad withdrawing its military presence in the region due to the travel ban.
Then I heard that Rachel Maddow had reported on the issue, and then I read an article in huffpo claiming that it was a "conspiracy theory."
Just last night I watched a video where Russian troll Jimmy Dore said Maddow was going crazy and pushing conspiracy theories, right before he said that the Russian interference in our elections is a hoax.

Even if the withdrawal of Chad's military isn't the direct cause of the attack, it has certainly had an effect on anti-terrorism efforts in the region.
I find it more than a little strange that some people are dismissing the possibility out of hand without any investigation.
I find it concerning that some of those people are paid Russian propagandists.

it's going just swimmingly, isn't it?

IIRC, Chad was placed on the new "ban" because they ran out of special passport paper. they took offense, and pulled out of Niger. it may or may not have affected the patrol strength on 10/4.

the butterfly effect of counter-insurgency warfare.

Dear Stranger brain trust: I know one reader is a really small sample size. But my day is slightly better every time Charles writes the MN. Thanks.

@6 in my preferred world, Dan writes the Morning News and Charles writes the dissent.
9
@6: Good. Better: They alternate news/dissent days. Best: Reading "Charles, you ignorant slut."

That Obama was just an undercover Nazi, just like I assumed. You are probably a Nazi too, and whoever posts under me is definitely a Nazi.

"Like so many inadequately lettered Americans..."

Don't mistake academic degrees for intelligence, Charles.

Even Timothy Egan agrees Sawant is the only politician in Seattle who matters.

Meanwhile I am in Seattle for a conference and I absolutely hate Seattle. I'm currently out for dinner with colleagues and I've decided to go hungry rather than order any of this overpriced, froofy, ill-conceived hipster trash. I'm used to food being expensive; I'm from Chicagoland, after all. I just figure that a 12 inch pizza that costs $14 should have toppings that complement each other and not be doused in grease. A $4 basket of fries shouldn't be simultaneously soggy and burnt. Hot damn, I ate better in Wichita Falls.
Fuck your pretentious city; I hope Seahawks lose five straight. You all need to be introduced to actual civilization.

P.S.: shouldn't a city with little sunshine as Seattle have less butt-ugly architecture?

@11: did Charles mention academic degrees or intelligence?
15
@13: sounds like you hate Seattle not because you got a lousy meal, but because you or your colleagues didnt trouble yourselves to find a good one. I love Chicago but for tourists there's plenty of bad food and ugly architecture available there too. Regarding "actual civilization," it's easy for a resident of a much bigger and older city to find fault. I grew up near Chicago, but I willingly gave up a lot of cultural amenities when I moved to Seattle, in favor of some attractions that you might not value, or some that you might not discover on a short visit.

Please wait...
