No! No! NO! The "great play by Atlanta’s Grady Jarrett" on the fake field goal was insignificant. If he doesn't make that tackle and Luke Willson gets the first down, it doesn't matter BECAUSE THE CLOCK WOULD'VE RUN OUT!

That was one of the stupidest plays I've ever seen an NFL team call. It made zero sense. The only positive outcome would've been if Willson had run the ball into the end zone, which that play clearly was not called to do.

If Pete had no faith in Walsh making that kick, then keep Russell in the game and go for it with your real quarterback. A shovel pass to Luke Willson from the punter? WHAT THE FUCK??!!

I'll play the blame game: the Seahawks lost because of Pete Carroll (throw the challenge on Baldwin's drop in there too...we could've really used another timeout at the end). Behind all his greatness as a coach, Pete Carroll is still at times a stupid Trojan.

Go Hawks!

The rationalizing here is pathetic.

Team makes catastrophic play call in Super Bowl. Loses.
Team doubles down on bad play call by trading away offensive line.
Team is unable to function with bad offensive line
Years of futility pass
Attrition through injuries, age, and contract issues.
Window for success closes.

Edit: The window didn't close, they slammed it shut themselves.

Should have given Marshawn the ball.

It will be many many years before this city sees a winner here again.

If you want to watch them for "fun," as you say here, go ahead. But, you can't pretend they have a shot. They might as well be Kansas City. (which has a louder stadium).

Doug is right, and that comment about the stadium at Kansas being louder is the ultimate burn! That play call cost the game-- coupled with all the other completely bad mistakes that the entire universe saw while watching the game live on tv. Also, while you can't totally blame Blair Walsh, he almost missed the other field goal. Remember, it bounced off the post? Got lucky on that one. He has the jitters. Had they had 2 FG (the one what was ruined on the fake play) and the FG at the end of the game, they win. In the Redskins game, he is completely complicit in that loss. For years, Haushcka bailed the Seahawks out with extra points and FGs. It's not ok that this keeps happening.

Ouch! Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch.
GO, SEAHAWKS!

@3 -- exactly! there's a lot more latitude to make bizarro calls and try weird things when you have a kicker who can reliably bail you out. The Seahawks decided that they didn't want to pay for that kind of insurance anymore and it's starting to hurt.

Please wait...
