Seattle police confirmed that a hit-and-run collision killed a 61-year-old male cyclist near the intersection of 1st Avenue S. and S. Andover Street at about 5:45 a.m. Tuesday morning.

According to the SPD blotter, the cyclist died at the scene. Witnesses told police that the driver hit the cyclist as it was headed northbound on 1st Avenue and the vehicle continued northbound on 1st after the collision.

Police have opened an investigation into the hit-and-run. Witnesses gave conflicting descriptions of the vehicle involved, but police later confirmed that they are looking for a "white or silver colored 4 door compact hatchback, very similar to a Toyota Prius" with obvious headlight damage.
