That's really cool, but ultimately it might just be another one of those facts that most of us will refer to when we're pulling our hair out, cursing Ajit Pai's name as we see our Internet bills skyrocket with the new "packages" we now have to choose from to surf the Internet.

Pai is pretty clearly the inside man for the lobbyists that want to dismantle net neutrality, and no amount of comments (or FOIA requests, apparently) are going to deter him from the cushy gig he'll return to, once he's torn the system down.

Next question for all this astroturfing is "cui bono?"

Russia obviously had good reason to throw a monkey wrench into our electoral process last year. But why would they care about about net neutrality?

ISPs obviously have a lot to gain from this. They're basically the only ones who support the repeal. Can we tie this effort back to Comcast or Verizon?

Who else might be behind it? What would they stand to gain?

@Corydon If ISPs can arbitrarily throttle the internet at will, there would presumably be nothing to stop them from creating internet blackouts in contentious locations... People tweeting and live-streaming protests and authoritarian actions? Shut off the internet to prevent such "fake news" gushing forth from the massive fractures in our democracy...

Please wait...
