State Department Shakeup Reportedly In the Works: Trump's team has drawn up plans to replace Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, the New York Times reports. Pompeo would be replaced by Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton. Tillerson, the former Exxon CEO, once reportedly called Trump a "fucking moron." His departure would land him in a club of former Trump staffers including Katie Walsh (resigned), James Comey (fired), Mike Flynn (resigned and under investigation), Reince Priebus (resigned), Michael Dubke (resigned), Anthony Scaramucci (fired), Sean Spicer (resigned), Steve Bannon (resigned), Sebastian Gorka (resigned) and Tom Price (resigned). But Omarosa remains.

Speaking of Diplomacy... Trump's retweets of a neo-fascist group's anti-Muslim videos has reignited a debate in Britain over whether the country should withdraw an invitation to the president.

Another Local News Source Gutted: The secret new owner of the LA Weekly fired pretty much everyone on the paper's editorial staff. LA Weekly joins the club of local news sources either gutted or killed in recent months, including Seattle Weekly (pivot to community paper), Baltimore City Paper (shuttered), OC Weekly (layoffs), Houston Press (killed print publication), Village Voice (killed print publication), DNAinfo (shuttered by billionaire owner after staff voted to unionize), Gothamist (shuttered by same billionaire owner after staff voted to unionize).

Again: Not even the remaining (or departing) staff of LA Weekly knows who owns LA Weekly.

Matt Lauer Is Sorry: The NBC host was fired yesterday. The bosses cited a complaint of sexual harassment. Soon after, Variety published a report detailing multiple accusations of sexual harassment or misconduct against Lauer. The New York Times published more. In an apology, Lauer said: "There are no words to express my sorrow and regret for the pain I have caused others by words and actions. To the people I have hurt, I am truly sorry.…as I am writing this I realize the depth of the damage and disappointment I have left behind at home and at NBC."

He is not the latest public figure to lose his job in the wake of sexual harassment or misconduct allegations (that would be Garrison Keillor, who is not sorry), but he does join a club that include Harvey Weinstein (Hollywood producer), Josh Besh (New Orleans chef), Roy Price (head of Amazon studios), Leon Wieseltier (longtime New Republic editor), Knight Landesman (Artforum publisher), Mark Halperin (journalist), Kevin Spacey (actor), Michael Oreskes (NPR editor), Louis C.K. (comedian), Steve Jurvetson (venture capitalist) and Charlie Rose (CBS host).

Grays Harbor Pot Growers: Apparently didn't realize they were breaking the law. The local sheriff said "the county is trying to find shelters for the accused, since most don’t have families or friends to stay with, and the homes they were living in, the suspected pot growing locations, are now considered crime scenes," KING 5 reports.
