I'll tell you the top news item for me on this Friday morning, and a welcome respite from the Republicans' ongoing efforts to use the tax code to turn America into a failing, second-tier state.
That would be that the Sounders are going back to MLS Cup. Also I've got to give credit to the Seattle TImes's Larry Stone for a surprisingly thoughtful writeup on what this win means for the Sounders' 2017 season and their championship last year.
@1: Yaaay, cressona and Seattle Times' Larry Stone--thanks for some good news! Go, Sounders!
@2 blip: Good--let's hope the Evil Empire goes down in flames, and that instead of going down with the shit occupying the White House, the rest of us and the world get to watch and savor their long-overdue comeuppance. Live, with film updates at 11.
@3 seatackled & @4 Phoebe in Wallingford: I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Jim Nabors. I always loved his Gomer Pyle, and he had a wonderful singing voice.
@5 Urgutha Forka: *sigh*
The needed details here are about what exactly Flynn and the Russian contact spoke about. If it was in regards to the possibly hacked DNC emails, then that would prove actual collusion.
However, it is also possible that the charge Flynn is hoping to avoid revolves around the Logan Act, which would not necessarily prove collusion in regards to Trump himself, but would open up Flynn (and possibly Kushner, who reportedly gave Flynn this "order") to persecution under the Logan Act. This would make him the first and only person ever charged under the 1799 law.
Eh, still not too excited about the Russian thing. It seems like too many on the left are wound up about proving 'collusion'. Some clear law would have to have been violated to touch Trump. Seems like if it can be proven that they knew about the hacking and coordinated the timing of the release of the emails with the Russians they could be considered accessories to this clearly illegal activity though.
@17. He was charged with murder. The prosecution went for too much. I don't know the details, but he appears to be an individual with somewhat diminished capacity. And the shot fired could be considered accidental. It's another sad story with guns going off in this county of too many guns. Remember, in Florida you can call the cops, they can tell you not to bother a private citizen, you can confront that citizen while armed, and then kill him when he fights back.
