Under no condition is John Burbank permitted to have anything to do with any effort regarding revenue. He is the latte tax guy.

So pretty much everyone on the board is involved in non-profits (and many involved with homelessness). These same non-profits will be on the receiving end of the tax. The same non-profits that have been working on homelessness so far.

So expect no new ideas, and a new tax.

Maybe a few folks who are actually transitional or homeless would be helpful instead of the liberal folly that keep the status quo going with resume additions piling up until their recommendations are put forth and the homeless population has doubled.

Start the Housing First program NOW City of Seattle no excuses. People are sleeping outside now. Its bitterly cold. Get the lead out.

Who stopped the outside feeding program City of Seattle? The churches who provide food for people on the streets are very upset I have heard.

@#4 Seattle has had a Housing First program for at least a decade, since DESC pioneered the concept with 1811 Eastlake, and Catholic Community Services followed. The problem with all of our programs is simply not enough beds.

@#1 John Burbank heads a think tank that specializes in tax policy. Who better to evaluate this policy, its impacts and alternatives and uses?

@#2 Almost none of these talented folks would be recipients of the tax, assuming it is directed to building low-income housing. Other than Tony To, who helps fund developers, human services are not in the mix. This is capital construction money, not services. Given the increasing need and the cuts to tax credits and HUD Sec. 8, the city absolutely must find a new funding source.

The HALA Mandatory Housing Affordability funds depend on being "leveraged" 3:1 with other finds. That's 75% (almost all) our tax money. The city needs its large employers to step up, since their hiring boom is driving up rents and driving out working families. Where does Bartells think retail clerks can afford to live?
