Release Michael Bennett.

There was a lot of talk by the announcers about how uh, "into" the game the crowd was, and those fights were so wildly out of character for the Hawks who I think really try to play the role of the "not asshole" team - and I'm sorry but some of those hits by the Jags were insane (though I may just have selective memory on that). It felt like there was some weird fucked up shit going on behind the scenes and I am not at all surprised that racist fans were involved later on. I can't help but notice the timing, one day after Bennett's nomination after a year of people basically calling for him to be fired or killed online.

The vibe at this stadium was bad bad bad and I tuned out early because I honestly felt like something harsh might go down after the game.

I turned it off at 17-10. ifedi and walsh are useless.

@2

Being the most-penalized team in the league, year after year, is a pretty weird way to "play the role of the not-asshole".

@4: something like half of the penalty yards are germain ifedi or rex odiambo false starts or holding. those aren't "asshole" penalties.

yesterday, ifedi got 15 yards for taunting a ref. THAT is an asshole penalty.

Michael Bennett for President. He can wear his little pads to G7 meetings. Richard Sherman can be his Chief of Staff. Bring on the bread and circuses! Why do the Republicants get to have all the fun?!?

The Ohtani news was pretty rough. Seems like he may have represented the M's last real chance to make a run at a pennant w/ Felix. Feel like they should probably offer to trade him (Felix) to a legitimate contender before he's forced into retirement.

Spike, NHL is actually as great as the NBA, even if it doesn't get the TV ratings and broadcast dollars that the NBA gets (and even if you don't get the sport, Spike.) With the NHL, you get speed, skill and adrenalin galore, more so when you see the game live. While I agree that the Key is an inferior location for professional sports and SODO would be better, Hansen, unfortunately, could not come to an deal with NHL investors that would have bolstered his argument for a street vacation that could have gotten an arena built and the NHL in SODO. Even with construction of a SODO arena, the NBA is not ready for expansion at this time and may not be if at all until the mid 2020's at the soonest. You would also have to get an arrogant and sports agnostic city council majority behind a SODO arena that it fears would harm its city asset. NHL wants to be here right now and potentially would be a terrific and much needed addition to the culture and character of the region, even if you have trouble getting to it.

It was either the Key, or no NHL at all, and maybe no NBA either, as irrational as it sounds.

It's a shame the Hawks lost their minds at the end of the game, because otherwise we might be talking more about that last drive, and the absolute shit refereeing that occurred. How that "defensive hold," which was actually just Paul Richardson getting yanked to the ground, got missed is beyond me. The guy guarding him slipped, and desperately took down Richardson because he was about to get beat for a go-ahead touchdown. On 4th down. With like two minutes left in the game.

Week after week, the narrative of way too many games in the NFL could, and should, be "referee blows crucial call that swings the result." Instead, we collectively tell ourselves "that's not why they lost," and "it shouldn't have been that close in the first place."

Fuck that. The guy blew it, and we lost because of it. But now we all have to talk about whether or not Bennett's an asshole. Oh well.

While I prefer the NBA over the NHL any day, the SoDo location was terrible. It really wasn't good for transit. It takes way too long to walk from the nearest Link station, and it is a terrible walk. Ideally you would have the station somewhere in the middle of the city -- like where the convention center is. But Key Arena is still a better location than SoDo. Using the monorail, it is faster to get there, than to SoDo (and that is before Link gets to Ballard, when they add a station next to the Seattle Center). Buses should serve the area fairly well, especially when they convert Harrison to a bus-only street, between I-5 and the Center. That will happen soon after they tear down the viaduct, and folks can cross Aurora between Mercer and Denny.

But one of the big advantages to the Seattle Center is the high number of people who will actually walk to the game. There are plenty of people who live in Belltown and Lower Queen Anne, while very few live in SoDo.

So, ultimately, fewer people will drive to the games at Key Arena than would have driven to the games at SoDo. It was the right choice.

I dunno, I don’t like Baldwin and Graham in the same derogatory sentence. Totally unlike Baldwin, Graham drops too many passes. Its as bad as Walsh. If the ball is in, or through, your hands, you catch it. It’s not acceptable when youre paid the big bucks. Everyone treats him like a big baby and over praises him when he catches the ball (which he’s finally doing, in the end zone) and under criticizes him when he drops it, almost every game, often more than once per game.

UW hoops beat #2 Kansas on Wednesday. Even if you don't like the Huskies, fuck Kansas.

Please wait...
