A Merchant Ship needs to burn something for fuel, and since the current choice is bunker oil, (basically on step above asphalt) not diesel, LNG is a much cleaner option.
2
The linked industry article states LNG is much better overall than diesel fuels The Maritime industry is a leader in efficiency and environmental technology. It's funny, Brownstone writes the port of Tacoma "claims" LNG provides lower emissions, would she write scientists "claim Climate Change is caused by humans?

We have had scientists from N.O.A.A., Sierra Club many other environmental groups with long standing legitimate standing in the world, engineers, doctors, PhDs, attorneys, Puyallup Tribe, citizens in the blast zone and highly polluted super cite violating air standards, testify time and time again for more than a year in front of the City of Tacoma council, the Port of Tacoma Commissioners and have been thoroughly ignored and disrespected. FRACKED LNG IS NOT CLEANER ACCORDING TO THE SCIENTIST BUT ONLY ACCORDING TO THE FOR PROFIT PRIVATE FOREIGN EXTREMELY PROFITABLE IN THE BILLIONS PSE OUT OF AUSTRALIA WHO HAS THE GAUL TO WANT 134,000,000 CORPORATE WELFARE FROM THE PUBLICALLY OWNED TPU CITIZENS OF TACOMA FOR THEIR DANGEROUS 8 MILLION GALLON CONTAINER OF LNG (BIGGER THAN THE TACOMA DOME) BUILT OVER A FAULT, INTRUDING (PIPELINE) OVER THE PUYALLUP TRIBAL RESERVATION VIOLATING PUYALLUP TREATY RIGHTS, VIOLATION PUBLIC SAFETY BEING BUILT IN A RESIDENTIAL ZONE ENDANGERING HILLTOP TACOMA RIGHT BY THE ST. JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH OUR GOVERNMENT? I'LL TELL YOU WHAT IS WRONG CITIZENS UNITED SUPREME COURT DECISION OF 2010 THAT SAID CORPORATIONS ARE PEOPLE AND MONEY IS FREE SPEECH AND GREEDY BILLIONAIRES ARE FUNDING THE CAMPAIGN OF OUR PHONY PUBLIC SERVANTS! ALL FOR A LOUSY 18 JOBS?????????????? WHAT THE HELL! WE ARE FOR JOBS BUT WE ARE NOT PATHETIC BEGGARS WE HAVE FAITH THAT AS WE WITNESS OTHER COUNTRIES AND COMMUNITIES ACROSS THIS COUNTRY AND WORLD MOVING AWAY FROM DANGEROUS POLLUTING FRACK LNG SO WILL TACOMA BENEFIT FROM THE JOBS THAT WOULD LIKE TO COME TO TACOMA TO MANUFACTURE SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE MANUFACTURING FOR OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY NOT FOR FOREIGN BILLIONAIRES WHO WANT TO ENSLAVE US TO ANOTHER 50 YEARS OF LNG PIPELINE INVADING PUYALLUP TRIBAL SALMON FISHING AND LIVELIHOOD! SHAME ON THESE NARROW-MINDED, DESPERATE UNIONS WHO SHOVED THIS DOWN OUR THROATS. AND I A UNION! AND MY GRANDFATHER WAS IN THE SIT DOWN STRIKE AT DODGE MAIN IN DETROIT/HAMTRAMCK I 1937 WHERE THE WORKERS LOCKED THEMSELVES IN THE PLANT TO GET BETTER JOBS HUMANE JOBS AND LIVING WAGE JOBS. TIMES HAVE CHANGED SINCE 1937 WE WANT JOBS THAT PROTECT OUR PRECIOUS WATER, AIR, AND SOIL. THERE ARE NEW INVENTIONS THAT ARE CREATING ELECTRIC SHIPS AND OTHER NON-POLLUTING FORMS OF SHIPPING AND TRANSPORTATION.

TOTE, PSE's only customer, already switched to ultra-low sulfur diesel. This 14 story 8 million gallon LNG refinery would pollute Tacoma with tons f carcinogen air emissions and pose a real danger as it would store the equivalent of 166 Kilotons of TNT (Hiroshima bomb was 15 kilotons) in the middle of 200,000 people, near homes, schools and public roads. TOTE is owned by the Seattle family Saltchuck, who are big oil explorers and distributors, they sell 3.5 million gallons of petroleum products weekly and have 9 tank farms with 20+ million gallon. Port of Tacoma is right now in violation of clean air by not lowering diesel emissions of the trucks. Tacoma has higher cancer and asthma rates than just about any other WA community. We are done being abused and polluted by these multinational fossil polluters like Australian-owned PSE and European-owned US Oil. If Seattle firm wants LNG, I respectfully suggest they stick this toxic and dangerous refinery in the Port of Seattle. PSE wants to send the frozen fracked gas via tanker trucks, barges and trains all over the place, including to fuel the Seattle cruise ship market. PSE is also charging rate payers 43 % or over $134 million for this fracked gas refinery. You all get to pay for it while PSE laughs all the way to the bank. PSE CEO Harris takes home $4.45 million a year, and PSE's owner Macquarie Group pays their CEO $18 million. TOTE, btw, has a $ 500 million military contract. Fracked gas refinery is toxic, dangerous, not local and is in violation of Puyallup Treaty rights. Just say no the dirty private gas monopoly.

WHERE IS MY POST STRANGER?

Here is the last thing I spoke of sending you the flyer information being handed out in the community!
Check it out and address its accuracy for yourself.
THE PUGET SOUND PSE LNG FACILITY WOULD LOCK CITIZENS INTO 50 YEARS OF BURNING FRACKED GAS AND ACCELERATE CLIMATE CHANGE WHILE EXPOSING OUR POPULATION TO CARCINOGENS AND EXPLOSION DANGERS.

. PSE IS BELLEVUE BASED, Australian-owned FOR PROFIT ENERGY UTILITY.
. PSE'S OWNER, THE MACQUARIE GROUP, IS KNOWN FOR HIGH MARGIN.
.THE AUSTRALIAN MEDIA CALL THE GROUP "THE MILLIONAIRE FACTORY."
. THE CEO OF PSE'S AUSTRALIAN OWNER MADE $18 MILLION IN 2016.
